Job summary

Pleyne in Jaipur is seeking a client-facing tailoring specialist who can read a man’s frame before he speaks his size. You will guide clients through cloth, silhouette and detail when event dates are uncertain, and you will call the fitting correctly on the stand so the garment feels right from the first try.

This is not a fresher role. 2+ years in menswear—bespoke, made-to-measure, or high-end retail—are required.

Job description

Pleyne is a custom menswear house. Sherwanis, bandhgalas, jodhpuris, indo-western, etc. Every garment is cut to one man's measurements and made in our own workshop. Our clients come from across the world, most of them sent by someone who has already worn our clothes.

We are looking for one person to sit at the centre of that relationship.

WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY IS?

• Reading a man's body before he tells you his size.
• Guiding a client through cloth, silhouette, and detail when he arrives with an event date and no clear idea of what will suit him.
• Calling the fitting correctly on the stand, not after delivery.
• Carrying a commission from the first appointment to the final handover, and being the person the client asks for the next time.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

• A design background. NIFT, Pearl, or equivalent, or a career built inside a tailoring house.
• 2+ years in menswear. Bespoke, made-to-measure, or high-end retail.
• The ability to look at a shoulder line, a sleeve pitch, or a collar roll and say precisely what is wrong with it.
• Ease with clients who are spending seriously and expect to be understood quickly.
• If your eye is right and your fitting is not yet, we will teach the rest. The eye is the part we cannot teach.

WHAT THIS IS NOT?

• This is not a fresher role. This is not FMCG or general retail sales. If your experience is in moving stock rather than shaping a garment on a client, this will not work for either of us.

Compensation will be built around the person, not the title.

On-site in Jaipur, full-time. This is not negotiable.
