Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as energy systems, transportation engineering, environmental studies, public policy, economics, energy, or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of related experience. Prior work or understanding on electric mobility preferred.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather, synthesize, and interpret data from various sources.
  • Knowledge of policies and programs related to passenger & freight electrification, EV charging infrastructure, battery storage & recycling.
  • Relevant network among key electric vehicle stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple people and deliverables, and to perform or quickly learn new tasks, systems, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of the Indian political system, economic structures, and socio-cultural landscape.
  • Ability to occasionally travel approximately 25% annually.
  • Commitment to NRDC India's mission, values, and DEI principles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on clean transportation including technology trends, market dynamics, policy frameworks, infrastructure requirements, and socio-economic impacts of electric mobility.
  • Collaborate with the larger team on NRDC's clean transportation initiatives including passenger & freight electrification, Battery circularity, EV charging infrastructure, ZEV financing.
  • Prepare clear and concise research reports, policy briefs, whitepapers, and presentations summarizing findings and policy recommendations.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders, academia, government officials, think tanks, financiers and other stakeholders to support evidence-based policy formulation on electric mobility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to ensure project milestones are met in a time-bound manner.
  • Media, business, and government outreach; dissemination & outreach strategies.
  • Support team activities including project implementation, planning and expansion strategies.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and seminars to present research findings and contribute to discussions on electric mobility.
  • Stay updated with developments in electric mobility and policy changes nationally and internationally.

POSITION SUMMARY

NRDC India is hiring a Clean Transportation Specialist who will play an active role in advancing our work on electric mobility domain in India. The incumbent will engage in comprehensive research, data analysis, and collaboration with experts to support evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation that promotes sustainable and clean mobility solutions.

  • Prepare clear and concise research reports, policy briefs, whitepapers, and presentations summarizing research findings and policy recommendations.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders, academia, government officials, academia, peer research organizations, think tanks, financiers and other stakeholders to support evidence-based policy formulation on electric mobility within the broader sustainable-transportation ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, partners to ensure project milestones are met in a time bound manner

  • Work with internal & external stakeholders on effective dissemination & outreach strategies
  • Support team activities including project implementation, planning and work area expansion strategies

  • 2-4 years of related experience. Prior work or understanding on electric mobility preferred.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather, synthesize, and interpret data from various sources.
  • Knowledge of policies and programs related to passenger & freight electrification, EV charging infrastructure, battery storage & recycling

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute many tasks, follow institutional procedures, and work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and shifting requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to knowledge of or ability to learn relevant industry and NRDC specific software and platforms.
  • Experience being part of large, cross-sector, multi-partner initiatives a plus
  • Passion for sustainable transportation and a keen interest in contributing to policy development.
