Job summary

PeopleStrong in India is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to support substation practices, including equipment supporting structures, steel frames, and foundations. You will coordinate with project specialists, develop optimized soil and structural designs, and ensure compliance with quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering, 8–10 years of substations experience, Staad software proficiency, and excellent communication; wind/solar experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) required.
• 8–10 years of substations and power sector design experience.
• Proficient in STAAD for analysis and design.
• Specialist Engineer in civil & structural detailing for substation projects.
• Strong communication and networking skills.
• Experience with site prep, grounding, and foundation design.

Responsibilities

• Design of steel and concrete structures for substations.
• Design shallow foundations and equipment foundations.
• Develop optimized soil and foundation designs.
• Coordinate geotechnical activities with project team.
• Prepare site grading, road, and drainage layouts.
• Interface with contractors and manage subcontracts for substation design.
• Knowledge of solar PV area is a plus.

Job Description for Civil Structural Engineer

Job Description: -

Reporting to the Discipline Civil Head, The Structural Engineer will support the application & technology development of Substation engineering practices related to Equipment Supporting Structures, Steel Structures, Foundations, Wind Pile/Raft Foundations etc.

• Proficiency in Design of Steel & Concrete Structure like MCR, HT Switchgear Room Building, Steel Tower & equipment support steel structures etc.
• Proficiency in design of shallow foundations including design of Equipment foundations like Power Transformer, CT, CVT, Isolator, Tower Foundation etc.
• Develops optimized design for soil foundation systems like Power Transformer Foundation, Steel & Concrete Structures in conformity with quality standards requirements.
• Interface with other Project Specialists and Designers and plan, co-ordinate, execute and control the geotechnical engineering activities for a project or a proposal in accordance with project requirements.
• Knowledge of Site grading drawings, road & paving layouts, drainage layouts etc.
• Initiate and manage studies with external Contractors and Consultants. Prepares and follow-up Subcontracts associated to the design of Substation consultant/Vendors
• Knowledge of Solar PV area will be an added advantage.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering - B. Tech/B.E
• Must have 8 - 10 years of experience in design of substation & power sector
• Must have worked in Staad Software in Analysis & Design
• Specialist Engineer in Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of Substation Projects.
