Job summary

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) in Chennai seeks an experienced Chief Technical Engineer to lead the Civil & Structural Engineering department. You will provide technical leadership across FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC and Brownfield projects, oversee design of concrete and steel structures, and ensure deliverables meet client specs and KBR quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; Master’s in structural engineering preferred.
• 25–30 years in civil & structural engineering with leadership experience.
• Extensive Oil & Gas, LNG, refinery, petrochemical, fertilizer, and industrial project exposure.
• Strong knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE, API, Eurocodes and international standards.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SACS, SAP2000, Foundation 3D, SAFE, ETABS and related software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Civil & Structural Engineering department.
• Provide technical leadership for FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.
• Lead design review of concrete and steel structures, foundations, pipe racks, equipment supports, and industrial facilities.
• Review and approve critical engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Drive project delivery performance, quality, and schedule compliance.
• Interface with clients, licensors, vendors, construction teams, and multidisciplinary engineers.
• Lead recruitment, workforce planning, resource allocation, and staff development.
• Mentor engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence.
• Support proposal development, estimation, and business growth activities.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specs, and KBR quality procedures.

Chief Technical Engineer

KBR is seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineering professional to join our Chennai office as Chief Technical Engineer / Deputy Department Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support the Department Manager in managing the Civil & Structural Engineering department.
• Provide technical leadership for FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.
• Lead the analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, foundations, pipe racks, equipment support structures, and industrial facilities.
• Review and approve critical engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, and design reports.
• Drive project delivery performance, quality, and schedule compliance.
• Interface with clients, licensors, vendors, construction teams, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Lead recruitment, workforce planning, resource allocation, and employee development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Oil & Gas, LNG, Refinery, Petrochemical, Fertilizer, and Industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE, API, Eurocodes, and relevant international standards.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SACS, SAP2000, Foundation 3D, SAFE, ETABS, and related engineering software.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and client-facing experience.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and team management skills.
