SYSTRA in India is bidding on metro projects and seeks a Chief Signaling System Engineer to lead CBTC design, safety case development, and CMRS certification. The role focuses on integration with rolling stock, PSD, and CSTC interfaces, ensuring safety and interoperability across complex metro systems.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in signaling projects, system architecture, and migration strategies for brownfield expansions.

Responsibilities

• System Architecture & Strategy: Authorizing the design of the CBTC system, ensuring it supports required headway, ATO, and ATP.
• Safety Assurance & SIL Compliance: Overseeing the Safety Life Cycle to meet SIL4 standards and liaising with ISA.
• Interface Management: Leading integration between Signaling and Rolling Stock, PSD, and CTC.
• CMRS Certification: Directing technical dossiers and field demos for CMRS authorization of operations.
• EMC/EMI Governance: Ensuring the signaling system is electromagnetically compatible with Traction Power to prevent interference.
• Procurement & Vendor Control: Vetting global tenders for signaling hardware/software and approving FATs.
• Migration & Brownfield Planning: Managing cut-over strategies for line extensions without disrupting services.

Currently, we are bidding for Metro projects across India. The position of Chief Signaling System Engineer & Chief is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• System Architecture & Strategy: Authorizing the design of the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system, ensuring it supports the required headway, ATO (Automatic Train Operation), and ATP (Automatic Train Protection).
• Safety Assurance & SIL Compliance: Overseeing the Safety Life Cycle to ensure the system meets SIL4 (Safety Integrity Level 4) standards and managing relationships with the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA).
• Interface Management: Leading critical integration between Signaling and Rolling Stock (on-board equipment), Platform Screen Doors (PSD), and the Centralized Traffic Control (CTC).
• CMRS Certification: Directing the preparation of technical dossiers and field demonstrations required for the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to authorize commercial operations.
• EMC/EMI Governance: Ensuring the signaling system is electromagnetically compatible with the Traction Power system to prevent signal interference or "phantom" occupancy.
• Procurement & Vendor Control: Vetting global tenders for signaling hardware and software, and approving Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for critical interlockings and servers.
• Migration & Brownfield Planning: For line extensions, managing the complex "cut-over" strategies to integrate new signaling software without disrupting existing passenger services.
