Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Chemistry Content Expert - Agentic Solutions to blend chemical expertise with GenAI search techniques, improving how researchers locate chemistry information.

You will help design and evaluate GenAI-based search behaviours, build test sets, and collaborate with Data Science and Technology teams to shape AI search solutions for Reaxys.

Qualifications

• PhD or post-doctoral experience in Organic Chemistry or related field, with hands-on lab/research experience.
• Ability to design evaluation/test datasets and assess outputs from chemistry-related tools or systems.
• Understanding of how chemistry data is stored, represented and retrieved in scientific information systems.

Responsibilities

• Support development and validation of chemistry connectors for agentic solutions.
• Create test sets and evaluation datasets to assess quality, accuracy, and reliability of chemistry connectors.
• Analyze connector outputs against expected results and identify gaps, errors, or edge cases.
• Perform data analysis and prepare reports summarizing evaluation results and recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate findings and support issue resolution.

About the Role

As a Data Discovery and Enrichment Expert, you will bring chemistry expertise together with GenAI search practices to optimise how users find and retrieve chemistry information. You will help design and evaluate GenAI-based search behaviours, create high-quality test sets for training and validation, and collaborate with Data Science and Technology partners to shape new AI search solutions for Reaxys.

Responsibilities:

• Support the development and validation of chemistry connectors for agentic solutions.

Requirement

• Ability to design evaluation/test datasets and assess the quality of outputs from chemistry-related tools or systems.
• Understanding of how chemistry data is structured, represented, and retrieved in scientific information systems (e.g., databases, taxonomies, or similar platforms).
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and scientific partners.
• Familiarity with or interest in AI/NLP-based or agentic systems is a plus.
