Job summary

Honeywell Technologies is seeking an on-site commissioning and startup specialist to lead precommissioning, start-up, and initial operation activities for complex process units in India. The role requires strong chemical engineering fundamentals, field leadership and hands-on expertise with P&ID documentation.

You will drive coordination with customer operations and engineering teams, ensuring safety and quality while delivering reliable performance tests and optimized startup sequences.

Qualifications

  • Extensive practical experience in process-unit commissioning, pre-commissioning, startup and performance testing.
  • Strong knowledge of process design documentation including P&ID and drawings.
  • Experience with catalyst/adsorbent loading, reactor and heater dryout, and unit line-out activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assume on-site responsibility for commissioning, startup and initial operations advisory services.
  • Review equipment against Schedule A, P&IDs and specs; identify discrepancies and advise corrective actions.
  • Lead development and execution of the precommissioning program including hydrostatic testing and leak checks.
  • Advise on heater and reactor circuit dryout and catalyst/loading activities.
  • Review startup schedule and optimize sequencing, readiness and execution.
  • Provide operating instructions and direction for startup, operation, shutdown and emergency response.
  • Guide customer engineers through feed introduction and stabilization for on-spec products.
  • Issue daily instructions to shift Process Advisors coordinating with customer operations.
  • Monitor initial operation and adjust to optimize unit performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Establish baseline operating conditions for future troubleshooting and expansion.
  • Maintain clear communication with customer teams and internal stakeholders, escalating risks as needed.

Job Description:

Responsibilities
  • Assume overall on-site responsibility for ensuring that commissioning, startup and initial operations advisory services are fully executed.
  • Review supplied equipment against the Schedule A Package, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, standard specifications and drawings; identify discrepancies and advise on corrective actions that protect startup readiness and unit performance.
  • Direct the development and implementation of the precommissioning programme, including hydrostatic testing, water flushing, leak testing, pump and compressor run-in, refractory dryout, high-temperature field testing, inspection, catalyst loading and instrument loop checking.
  • Advise on heater and reactor circuit dryout and on catalyst and/or adsorbent loading activities.
  • Review and evaluate the startup schedule and recommend improvements to sequencing, readiness and execution.
  • Provide operating instructions and technical direction to customer operations and engineering personnel for startup, normal operation, shutdown and safe response to emergency situations.
  • Advise customer engineers and operators during feed introduction, stabilization and the achievement of on-specification products.
  • Issue daily instructions to shift-working Process Advisors in coordination with the customers operations management team.
  • Monitor initial operation, recommend adjustments to optimize unit performance and troubleshoot process or hydraulic issues.
  • Establish process guidelines to line out the unit and prepare it for successful performance testing.
  • Advise on performance gurantee testrunand evaluate results against the process parameters represented during the design phase.
  • Conduct or support detailed unit studies, including product-yield, catalyst activity and selectivity calculations, and process and hydraulic evaluations, etc.
  • Establish reliable baseline operating conditions to support future troubleshooting, performance improvement and expansion planning.
  • Maintain clear communication with customer teams and internal stakeholders, escalating technical, safety or schedule risks as required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
