Job summary

Systel, Inc in Mumbai is seeking a CFD Analyst/Designer with 5–10 years of experience to perform thermal and airflow simulations, validate mechanical designs, and support rugged electro-mechanical products through the development cycle.

The role collaborates with Mechanical and Electrical engineers, manufacturing and quality teams to optimize performance, participate in design reviews, and drive changes through the Engineering Change Process.

Qualifications

  • Degree/BSME: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 3 years experience related to the packaging of Electro-Mechanical equipment/systems.
  • CFD: Perform thermal and airflow simulations and validate mechanical designs.
  • CAD/CAE: Proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor or equivalent Solid Modelling packages.
  • Collaboration: Work with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality and Sales teams.

  • Engineering/Design/Documentation for packaging of Electro-Mechanical equipment as defined in Systel’s ProductDefinition.
  • Interface with all relevant departments throughout the Product Development Cycle.

Requirement

CAD/CAE: Computer-Aided Drafting/Design/Engineering courses and up-to-date knowledge of current AutoDesk software packages: AutoCAD and Inventor or equivalent Solid Modelling packages.

The CFD Analyst / Designer is responsible for performing thermal and airflow simulations, validating mechanical designs through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and supporting the development of rugged electro-mechanical products throughout the Product Development Cycle. Performs detailed design/documentation from conception, to prototype, to pre-production, and changes to design/documentation during production and for the life of the product, through Systel’s Engineering Change Process. The role involves collaborating with Mechanical Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales teams to optimise product performance before prototype development.

Duties and Responsibilities

All work activities shall be conducted in a manner that supports Systel’s Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, System Level Procedures (SLP) and Work Instructions (WI).

  • Engineering/Design/Documentation for packaging of Electro-Mechanical equipment as defined in Systel’s ProductDefinition.
  • Interface with all relevant departments, including external customers, throughout the Product Development Cycle.
  • Support Sales/Marketing/Customer in defining product/s by reviewing/determining product requirements through the creation of product specifications and conceptual drawings.
  • Interface with Manufacturers/Vendors for the selection of purchased components.
  • Assist other Engineering support personnel such as Drafters, Assemblers, and Technicians during documentation, prototyping, and testing phases. Support Manufacturing personnel during production.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in technology concerning the mechanical/electro-mechanical discipline as well as new technology related to Systel’s product structure.
  • Comprehend and Execute on all tasks through project management.
  • Meet due dates for all project or customer-related tasks and action items.
1.1 Getting Information
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information for engineering and design purposes from all relevant sources.
1.2 Design Layout
  • Perform layout drafting/design and specification of parts.
  • Provide detailed part fabrication drawings, Work Instructions, assembly drawings, proposal drawings, purchased part specifications, part number creation, Source Control Drawings, and Bills of Material.
  • Attend design reviews and execute on action items.
1.3 Computer Interaction
  • Use computers and computer systems (Hardware and Software), to design product, document, enter data, analyse, process information, communicate, change/revise, report, and manage tasks.
1.4 Prototyping
  • Build and/or assist with prototypes during the Product Development Cycle.
  • Capture data for documentation and/or changes for the design. Attend prototype reviews and execute on action items.
1.5 Interfacing
  • Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Inventory, Shipping/Receiving, Quality, Customer Service, Document Control, Vendors, Manufacturers, Distributors, Regulatory Agencies, and external customers.
1.6 Inspection
  • Inspect equipment, parts, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects.
1.7 Testing
  • Conduct and /or oversee environmental testing of product prototypes in the Engineering Lab.
1.8 Product Specification
  • Assist Sales/Marketing in the creation of Product Specification Documents.
1.9 Product Configuration
  • Assist Sales/Marketing in the creation of Product Quotes.
1.10 Product Review
  • Assist Sales/Marketing by attending Quote Reviews and Contract Reviews.
1.11 Changes
  • Revise/Change designs and documentation through the Engineering Change Process.
2 Quality
  • Involvement in the Quality Process through the attendance of meetings, training, and auditing.
  • Comprehension of System Level Procedures and Work Instructions for Engineering processes as well as other departmental processes that may affect Engineering and/or the Product Development Cycle.
2.1 Sustaining Engineering
  • Continuous support for existing product or product lines for issues such as End of Life, Internal/External customer changes or revisions, and new configurations.
2.2 Product Support
  • Assist Sales/Marketing/Reps by visiting with external customers on behalf of Engineering.
2.3 Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge
  • Keep up-to-date technically through hard/electronic publications, seminars, trade shows, Internet, vendors, distributors, manufacturers/reps, organisations, broadcasting, continuous education, and apply new knowledge to job/projects/products/processes.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Degree/BSME: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 3 years experience related to the packaging of Electro-Mechanical equipment/systems.

1 Engineering
  • Practical application of engineering science and technology. Includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD): Participate in finite element modelling and analyse problems in the thermal and thermo-fluids domain in high and low temperature ranges as it relates to integrated computer systems. Suggest solutions to cooling and heating issues before any physical systems are built.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Conduct FEA modelling and analysis in electro-mechanical systems as it relates to static and dynamic loading in integrated computer systems. Provide stress and structural support to design based on given geometry model. Suggest solutions to strain, shock, and vibration issues before any physical systems are built.
