Job summary

Weekday AI's client in Bengaluru is seeking a senior leader to own the Fruits & Vegetables category, with full P&L responsibility, pricing, assortment planning, and merchandising initiatives. You will shape the category strategy and align cross-functionally to drive growth and profitability.

Leading sourcing, demand planning, and inventory health, you will minimize waste while ensuring strong product availability.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience in leading category strategy and P&L ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own the Fruits & Vegetables category strategy, including P&L management, pricing, assortment planning, merchandising, and growth.
• Develop and execute a sourcing strategy focused on product quality, cost optimization, seasonality, supply reliability, and vendor performance.
• Lead demand planning, inventory health, and perishability economics to minimize wastage while maintaining customer availability.
• Drive category performance using customer insights, market trends, and purchasing behavior.
• Build scalable category processes, operating rhythms, and performance mechanisms for consistent execution.
• Develop and lead a high-performing category team with analytical decision-making and operational excellence.
• Drive sustainable improvements in category growth, profitability, availability, and customer trust.
• Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve margins and reduce losses.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the overall Fruits & Vegetables (F&V) category strategy, including P&L management, pricing, assortment planning, merchandising, and category growth
• Develop and execute an efficient sourcing strategy focused on product quality, cost optimization, seasonality, supply reliability, and vendor performance
• Lead demand planning, product availability, inventory health, and perishability economics to minimize wastage while maintaining customer availability
• Drive improved sell-through and category performance by leveraging customer insights, field-level intelligence, market trends, and purchasing behavior
• Build scalable category processes, operating rhythms, and performance mechanisms to ensure consistent execution across the category
• Develop and lead a high-performing category team, fostering ownership, analytical decision-making, and operational excellence
• Drive sustainable improvements in category growth, customer purchase frequency, profitability, availability, and customer trust
• Monitor category performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce losses, optimize assortment, and strengthen overall category economics
