Job summary

Prashanti Medical Services And Research Foundation seeks a skilled Perfusionist to support cardiac surgeries. You will operate extracorporeal circulation equipment, monitor patient parameters during cardiopulmonary bypass, and manage blood products and medications during procedures.

You will also handle equipment management, supply purchasing, and participate in quality improvement, while teaching residents and students about perioperative perfusion and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Studying the patient's medical history and notes to be prepared for the surgery.
• Perfusionist operates extracorporeal circulation equipment such as the heart-lung machine, artificial heart, blood transfusion devices, intra-aortic balloon pump, and ventricular-assist devices.
• Perfusionist monitors and maintains patient parameters during CPB including blood pressure, heart rate, urinary output, blood gases, acid/base status, coagulation, temperature, and myocardial protection.

Responsibilities

• Operating extracorporeal circulation equipment for surgery.
• Monitoring and care management of the patient during surgery to ensure safe physiologic functions.
• Routine administration of blood products and medications during surgery.
• Administrative duties including equipment management, supply purchasing, department management, and quality improvement.
• Assists in instructing residents, perfusion students, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and medical students in cardiopulmonary bypass.

• Operating and selecting of a variety of extracorporeal circulation equipment, such as the heart-lung machine, the artificial heart, blood transfusion devices, the intra-aortic balloon pump, and various ventricular-assist devices
• Monitoring and care management of the patient during surgery to ensure safe physiologic functions
• Routine administration of various types of blood products and medications to patients during surgery
• A variety of administrative duties, such as equipment management, supply purchasing, department management, and quality improvement

Perfusionist monitors and maintains many patient parameters during CPB. This includes the regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, urinary output, arterial and venous blood gasses, acid/base status, blood coagulation, temperature, and myocardial protection. In addition, the mechanical parameters of the circuit must be constantly assessed.

The Perfusionist must remain alert and attentive and must respond appropriately to changes and problems. Procedures covered include CABG, valve, aortic aneurysm, heart ventricular assist devices, and neonatal & pediatric congenital defect surgeries.

Assists in instructing Cardiac Anesthesia Residents, Perfusion students, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical students, and residents with understanding cardiopulmonary bypass.
