Job summary

WSP India is seeking a CAD Technician to perform basic CAD and BIM design tasks under Engineer direction. You will draft for a discipline, support CAD Technicians, and coordinate with the GCC CAD team, delivering sections, schedules, and drawings while meeting timescales and safety requirements.

The role requires 3–6 years of AutoCAD/Civil3D experience, knowledge of BIM software, and strong collaboration skills. A diploma in drafting and proficiency with AutoCAD 2023+ are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma in drafting with ACAD required.
• 3–6 years of AutoCAD/Civil3D experience.
• Ability to develop drawings from basic sketches to working drawings.
• Excellent AutoCAD knowledge (2023+) including X-Refs, Lisp, Blocks, Layers, Model/Paper Space.
• Familiar with BIM software and LAN environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and internal collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support CAD Technicians and the GCC CAD team.
• Create and edit drawings & sketches per WSP standards and timelines.
• Lead workload distribution and ensure QMS compliance.
• Provide regular work status updates and flag risks to line manager.
• Attend team and project meetings and support sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure health & safety practices and client service improvements.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Responsible for basic CAD and BIM design tasks as directed by the Engineer
• Responsible for all drafting for a particular discipline
• Coordinate and support CAD Technicians in workload, good detailing practice and work procedures.
• Creation and editing of drawings & sketches in compliance with WSP Swedish CAD Standards, detailing practices and agreed timescales
• Completion of CAD tasks received from Engineers and CAD Coordinator
• Coordinate and support the Global Complementary Centres (GCC) CAD team
• Generate sections / schedules / schematics from general arrangement drawings
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies
• Attend team and project meetings as required
• Support the company’s approach to sustainability
• Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance service to clients
• Lead by example and ensure QMS compliance across team
• Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline
• Feedback on all business development opportunities

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant discipline drafting service with ACAD.
• Minimum of 3 - 6 years relevant work experience using AutoCAD, Civil3D,
• Proven ability to work up drawings (plans, sections & details) from Engineers basic sketches to full working drawings
• Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD software (version 2023 and above). Including AutoCAD functions, such as X-Refs, Lisp, Blocks, Layers, Model Space & Paper Space, Viewports, Pen Setting files and all AutoCAD utilities. Should also be familiar with other Autodesk software such as Reference Manager. Should have understanding of ACAD customization and be able to load WSP Standard Menus, settings and make sure all PCs are set-up correctly & uniformly.
• Good working knowledge of the relevant discipline
• Experienced user of Microsoft Office
• Familiar with working in a LAN environment
• Working knowledge of BIM software packages.
