Job summary

Weekday is seeking an Associate CAD Software Development Engineer in Bengaluru with 3+ years of hands-on CAD API programming experience. You will build and maintain CAD automation systems, integrate multiple CAD platforms, and optimize 3D processing and visualization workflows.

Strong C++/C# and SolidWorks API experience are required. Responsibilities include headless SolidWorks services, RPC/COM debugging, and cross-platform CAD integrations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in CAD software development or CAD API programming
• Strong production-level programming in C++ and C#
• Hands-on experience with COM interop, Windows development, process management, services, RPC, and system-level debugging
• Deep expertise in at least one CAD API such as SolidWorks API, Creo Toolkit, NX Open, CATIA CAA
• Understanding of multithreading, process isolation, concurrency, and application stability
• Knowledge of STEP, B-Rep geometry, and geometry validation
• Experience troubleshooting CAD files across platforms and versions
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for debugging and rapid iteration
• Strong ownership, attention to detail, and independent problem solving

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance CAD automation and API integration solutions using C# and C++
• Manage SolidWorks instances as headless, multi-process services with robust lifecycle management
• Diagnose and resolve RPC errors, COM failures, crashes, hangs, and memory issues on Windows
• Build reliable process-pool mechanisms with health checks, automatic recovery, and restart capabilities
• Extend CAD automation capabilities including STEP export, JSON export, drawing generation, and geometry processing
• Develop and maintain integrations with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, and related CAD platforms
• Create a common abstraction layer to support multiple CAD engines
• Debug and resolve CAD file conversion and export issues (GLB/GLTF, STEP)
• Handle CAD files across different software platforms and versions
• Collaborate on debugging, code reviews, architecture discussions, and regression testing
• Leverage modern AI-assisted tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude for research and development

The role focuses on building and maintaining reliable CAD automation systems, integrating multiple CAD platforms, handling complex file formats, and improving the performance and reliability of 3D processing and visualization workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong production experience withC++ and C#, deep expertise in at least one major CAD API such as SolidWorks API, Creo Toolkit, NX Open, or CATIA CAA, and strong debugging skills across processes, memory, COM, and RPC layers.

• Design and implement integration approaches for new CAD platforms, including C++‑based toolkits such as Creo Toolkit.
• Define effective interaction between C# and C++ components and establish reusable cross‑CAD data models.
• Participate in debugging, code reviews, architecture discussions, regression testing, and continuous improvement of CAD processing systems.
• Use modern AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate API research, debugging, code exploration, and development.

What Makes You a Great Fit
