Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai seeks an experienced engineer to design, develop and verify HMI/SCADA applications for FACTS PQ Control and Protection systems. You will work on Micro SCADA-based substations and Hitachi RTU gateways, contributing to network architecture and engineering tool configuration.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in EEE with 4+ years in substation automation, knowledge of IEC 61850/ DNP3/ OPC UA, and hands-on tool experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering with at least 4 years of experience in substation automation.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC101/104 and OPC UA.
• Experience with IET600 engineering tool and SCIL coding.
• HMI database configuration, animation concepts and logics.
• Familiarity with RTUtil500 and Multiprong PLC tools.
• IEC61850 configuration across vendors (SEL, HITACHI, GE).
• Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and verify the HMI application for FACTS PQ Control and Protection System using Micro SCADA.
• Design and verify Hitachi RTU-based Gateway solutions for FACTS applications.
• Support network architecture with documentation for engineering workstations, network switches, GPS, KVM, and GOOSE.

The opportunity:

The FACTS technology uses a very high-end system for its control, protection and monitoring. This system is called MACH. This computerized system is built with state-of-the-art electronics, microprocessors and digital signal processors, connected by high performance industry standard buses and fiber optic communication
links. They operate on very high standard application software developed by Hitachi Energy.
As the system is continuously evolving, the Station Operating and Monitoring System (SOM) is becoming
more complex and customized. It requires a great deal of design, testing & verification of HMI, SCADA, Gateway
and network areas.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to join our team of R&D Engineers.
A person interested in the field HMI/SCADA application development and contribute towards global R&D projects.

How you’ll make an impact:

• You will design, develop and verify the HMI application for FACTS PQ Control and Protection System on

• Substation level based on Micro SCADA.

• You will design and verify Hitachi RTU based Gateway solution for various FACTS applications.

• To support the design of communication network by preparing related documentation to support the network

• architecture.

• You will need good knowledge of configuration and mappings databases on the IET600 Engineering tool and on the quality process connected with the project execution, continuous improvement program.

• You will be contributing to Configuration of Engineering workstations, Network switches, GPS, KVM, GOOSE.

• To set up and test the various FACTs application for developed base solution involving the overall system

• testing.

• To take ownership of T&SD KPIs such as OTD, COPQ etc.

• You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Required bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering with atleast 4years of experience in substation Automation engineering for station control system based on Micro SCADA X, Hitachi RTU communication gateways and substation automation products.

• Knowledge with industrial data transfer protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC101/104, and OPC UA.

• Knowledge of Engineering tool IET600, SCIL coding.

• Good working knowledge on HMI database configuration, animation concepts and logics.

• Knowledge of RTUtil500 and Multiprong PLC tools will be an added advantage.

• Configuration of IEC61850 in different vendor relays (SEL, HITACHI, GE).

• Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML would be an advantage.

• Ability to work independently with a sense of ownership and responsibility.
