Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of experience in journalism, preferably business, hospitality, travel or trade journalism.
• Strong understanding of business reporting and the ability to translate complex industry developments into clear stories.
• Proven experience conducting interviews with senior executives and industry professionals.

Responsibilities

• Research, pitch and write news stories, features, interviews and analytical articles for Asian Hospitality’s print and digital platforms.
• Track developments across the hotel, hospitality and travel industries and identify relevant and newsworthy stories.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts and reliable sources.
• Cover key areas including hotel openings and acquisitions, investments, hotel performance, brands and franchises, operations, technology, finance, travel and hospitality leadership.
• Analyse industry reports, company announcements, financial information, market data and research to develop accurate and insightful stories.
• Monitor competitor publications, industry publications, press releases and emerging trends to identify potential stories and angles.
• Produce accurate, well researched and engaging content while adhering to editorial standards and deadlines.
• Work closely with editors to develop story ideas, strengthen articles and meet the publication’s editorial priorities.
• Contribute to the publication’s website and digital channels, adapting stories and headlines for online audiences and search visibility.
• Fact check information, verify sources and ensure accuracy across all published content.
• Stay informed about major developments affecting the hospitality industry in the UK, US, India and international markets.
