Job summary

Egis is seeking a Building Physics Specialist to drive environmental performance and occupant well-being in design projects. You will run simulations, evaluate passive and active strategies, and communicate results to design teams and clients.

You will collaborate with sustainability professionals to achieve certification targets, perform daylight and thermal comfort analyses, and contribute to technical presentations for stakeholders across multiple countries and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Experience in sustainability or similar role with simulations and sustainable design.
  • Proficiency with Rhino Modelling, Ladybug Tools, GH Scripting, CFD tools.
  • Familiarity with LEED or sustainability certifications.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • LEED AP certification would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct early design stage simulations to assess climatic data and evaluate passive and active design strategies.
  • Prepare reports on passive design strategies based on simulation results for stakeholders.
  • Maintain high professional responsibility while delivering services.
  • Communicate results clearly with the sustainability team and clients.
  • Collaborate to provide evidence for sustainability certification requirements.
  • Perform daylight analysis, quality views, open spaces simulations, and Grasshopper calculations.
  • Conduct detailed UTCI simulations to assess outdoor thermal comfort and propose cost-effective improvements.
  • Assist in presentations and client briefings to showcase technical aspects of projects.

As a Building Physics Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assessing and optimizing the environmental performance and occupant well-being aspects of our projects. Your expertise in conducting simulation exercises will inform the design process, ensuring sustainable and high-performance buildings. Additionally, your collaboration with the sustainability team and effective communication skills will facilitate the achievement of various sustainability certifications. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Conduct early design stage simulations to assess climatic data and evaluate passive and active design strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on passive design strategies based on simulation results, effectively communicating design constraints and opportunities to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a high level of professional responsibility while delivering the required services.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with the sustainability team, presenting analysis results in a manner that is easily understood by the design team and clients.
  • Collaborate with the sustainability team to provide the necessary evidence for achieving various sustainability certification requirements.
  • Proficiency in performing daylight analysis, quality views assessments, open spaces simulations, and grasshopper calculations.
  • Conduct detailed Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) simulations to assess outdoor thermal comfort levels achieved by the design, proposing cost-effective strategies for improvement.

  • Effective teamwork and collaboration abilities, working seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., LEED AP) would be a plus.
