The recruitment process consists of written examination stages followed by physical efficiency, medical examination, and verification.

• Scrutiny of Applications: Applications will be scrutinized, and eligible candidates will be called for the written examination.
• Preliminary Written Examination: Objective-type examination of 100 questions carrying 200 marks to be completed in 2 hours. The paper will include English, General Knowledge, Hindi Language, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. Candidates must secure at least 30% marks to qualify. Up to 10 times the number of vacancies category-wise will be shortlisted.
• Paper-I (Objective): 200 questions carrying 200 marks, duration 3 hours, with 0.25 negative marking for each incorrect answer. Subjects include General Studies & Current Affairs, Mathematics & Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning & Analytical Ability, English Language, Hindi Language, and General Knowledge of Bihar.
• Paper-II (Subjective): 50 marks, duration 1 hour, consisting of Hindi Essay, English Essay, English Precis, and Hindi to English Translation.
• Candidates must secure at least 30% marks in both papers. Up to three times the number of vacancies category-wise will be shortlisted.
• Physical Efficiency Test / Physical Measurement: Height, chest (for male candidates), and weight (for female candidates) will be verified as prescribed. This stage is qualifying in nature and carries no marks.
• Merit List: Final merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination. In case of a tie, preference will be given in the following order:
  • Higher age
  • Higher educational qualification
  • Alphabetical order of names in Hindi as recorded in the Class 10 certificate
• Medical Examination & Character Verification: Selected candidates must undergo medical examination and character & antecedent verification before appointment. Candidates with stammering/lisping or pending criminal cases, or those declared ineligible under the prescribed conditions, will not be considered for appointment.
