Job summary

Wise is seeking a Banking Operations Manager based in Hyderabad, India. You will own global banking partner relationships, monitor performance, manage SLAs and drive cost-efficient operations across accounts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in banking operations, payment operations, partner/vendor management, risk management, operational excellence or a similar field.
  • Experience with payments, banking partner relationships and contract/SLA discussions.
  • Strong data-driven mindset with ability to investigate issues and form evidence-based actions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and prioritising across a broad portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Own operational relationships with key global banking partners, including regular performance reviews, escalations and action follow-up.
  • Drive partner performance by monitoring speed, reliability, incidents, SLA gaps, risk signals, fees and avoidable costs.
  • Translate complex internal problems into partner improvement plans with owners, steps, timelines and escalation paths.
  • Hold partner banks accountable for SLA performance, incident resolution and long-term fixes.
  • Support incident and post-incident follow-through and ensure root causes are understood and addressed.
  • Build operational visibility across Wise by improving partner records, documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Banking, Finance, Legal, risk and controls on partner fees, losses, contracts and regulatory expectations.
  • Help regional and internal teams work more effectively with banking partners by sharing context and best practices.

Job Description

Banking Operations Management is a global function with regional specialisation across APAC, Europe, NorthAm, MEA and LatAm. The team currently has 7 Banking Operations Managers, supported by the BOM Function Lead and project management support.

The team is currently based across Singapore, São Paulo, Austin, Budapest and Tallinn. APAC currently has two BOMs in Singapore; this role will add a third APAC BOM in Hyderabad to support the scale and complexity of the region. Current BOM scope excludes Japan.

The role reports to the Banking Operations Managers Function Lead. It is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy, broad stakeholder exposure and a strong expectation to build structure where it does not yet exist.

Here’s how you’ll contribute:

  • Own operational relationships with key global banking partners, including regular performance reviews, escalations and action follow-up.
  • Drive partner performance by monitoring speed, reliability, incidents, service level agreement (SLA) gaps, risk signals, fees and avoidable operational costs.
  • Translate complex internal problems into partner improvement plans, making sure issues have owners, next steps, timelines, escalation paths and expected outcomes.
  • Hold partner banks accountable for operational commitments, including SLA performance, incident resolution, responsiveness and long-term fixes.
  • Support incident and post-incident corrective action follow-through for issues caused by or involving partner banks, making sure root causes are understood and repeated problems are addressed.
  • Build operational visibility across Wise by improving shared partner records, documentation and reporting around partner performance and relationship management.
  • Work with Banking, Finance, Legal, risk and controls, and banking governance teams on partner fees, losses, contract/SLA discussions, controls and regulatory expectations.
  • Help regional and internal teams work more effectively with banking partners by sharing context, best practices and clear operating routines.
Qualifications
  • You are placed in Hyderabad, and have aright to work in India
  • You have5+ years of experience inbanking operations, payment operations, partner/vendor management, risk management, operational excellence or a similar field.
  • You understandpayment operations andbanking partner relationships.
  • You are highly data-driven: you can investigate issues, form a clear hypothesis, size the impact and build an evidence-based case for action.
  • You are strong atstakeholder management and caninfluence internal teams and external partnerswithout direct authority.
  • You are comfortable havingdifficult conversations and holding partners or internal teams accountable in a clear, constructive way.
  • You canoperate in ambiguity, prioritise across a broad portfolio and move work forward without waiting for perfect instructions.
  • You communicateclearly and concisely, especially when translating complex operational issues for different audiences.
  • You have a strongownership mindset, good judgement under pressure and a practical approach to solving problems.
  • You care aboutcontrols, documentation and operational resilience, especially where partner performance can affect customers, risk or customer money.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working directly with banks, payment schemes, correspondent bankingor high-volume payment infrastructure.
  • Experience running operational reviews, quarterly business reviews or service reviews with banks, vendors or strategic B2B partners.
  • Experience with SLA management, contract discussions, liability, fee reconciliation or cost recovery.
  • Experience in Treasury Operations, liquidity, safeguarding, financial risk or operational risk.
  • Experience with SQL, Looker, Tableau or other data tools.
  • Experience working across global teams, time zones and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Additional language skills relevant to global banking partner management.
