Job summary

Group Bayport in Gurgaon, India, seeks an experienced Backend Architect to design and implement scalable backend systems and guide the move to a microservices‑driven, headless architecture. You will ensure API responses under 200ms and lead engineering excellence across the stack.

You will drive technology strategy, system modernization, and best practices in code quality, security, and testing, collaborating with DevOps on cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field
• 10+ years experience developing high‑performing Node.js/JS apps
• Experience with high‑traffic B2C eCommerce platforms
• Exposure to headless commerce architecture
• Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes
• Knowledge of multi-region deployments and scaling strategies

Responsibilities

• Define and own end‑to‑end backend architecture for a high‑scale B2C eCommerce platform
• Lead migration from monolithic PHP/Magento to microservices
• Design systems for low latency, high availability, and scalability
• Architect and implement headless backend solutions
• Build and govern RESTful API standards and service contracts
• Design event‑driven systems using Kafka
• Optimize performance using caching and DB tuning
• Ensure robust logging, monitoring, and observability
• Collaborate with DevOps on cloud deployments (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS)
• Mentor engineering teams and drive code quality, security, and testing
• Use AI tools to increase efficiency and innovation

Position Overview

As a Backend Architect, you will be responsible for overall design and implementation of our backend systems. You will lead the transition to a microservices architecture, ensuring that all services are efficient, scalable, and capable of delivering API responses in under 200ms. Your expertise in various backend technologies will be essential in guiding the team through the development of robust and efficient solutions.

You will lead the transition to a microservices‑based, headless architecture, ensuring systems are resilient, scalable, and capable of delivering API response times under 200ms.

You will play a critical role in driving technology strategy, system modernization, and engineering excellence across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

• Define and own the end‑to‑end backend architecture for a high‑scale B2C eCommerce platform
• Lead migration from monolithic (PHP/Magento) to microservices architecture
• Design systems to ensure low latency, high availability, and scalability
• Architect and implement headless backend solutions
• Build and govern RESTful API standards and service contracts
• Design event‑driven systems using Kafka
• Optimize performance using caching (Redis), indexing, and database tuning
• Ensure robust logging, monitoring, and observability
• Collaborate with DevOps on cloud‑native deployments (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS)
• Mentor engineering teams and drive best practices in code quality, security, and testing
• Use AI based tool for increasing efficiency, innovation, quality

You should have

• Experience with high‑traffic eCommerce platforms (B2C)
• Exposure to headless commerce architecture
• Experience handling high concurrency systems
• Knowledge of multi‑region deployments and scaling strategies

Educational Qualification And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in developing high performing Node.js applications.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of Redis, Elasticsearch, Varnish, and CDN integrations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and cloud‑based deployments.
• Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills.
• Experience with headless commerce, PWA, or GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to enterprise‑scale e‑commerce solutions.
• Frameworks: Django, Flask, FastAPI , NestJS
