Job summary

DistroniX in Kolkata is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own server-side for our IIoT products. You will build REST APIs, design schemas, and handle MQTT data from field devices on AWS and on-prem infra.

You will containerize with Docker, configure Nginx/PM2/Apache, manage deployments on EC2/VPC, and ensure secure, scalable data processing end-to-end in a small engineering team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering in production environments.
• Hands-on AWS experience in live deployments.
• Exposure to IoT or device-connected backends is a strong plus.
• Comfortable owning your work end-to-end in a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain REST APIs using NodeJS and NestJS/TypeORM.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and manage data with TypeORM — including migrations.
• Subscribe to MQTT topics, process device telemetry, and persist it reliably.
• Define API contracts with firmware and frontend teams.
• Deploy services on AWS and containerize with Docker.
• Configure Nginx / PM2 / Apache for reverse proxying, SSL termination, and load balancing.
• Monitor service health via CloudWatch and respond to production incidents.

Work Mode: On-site

We need a Senior Backend Engineer who can reliably manage the server-side of our IIoT products — from setting up MQTT brokers to persisting data in Postgres database transiting securely over our own Nginx/PM2 servers running on EC2/on-prem installations and backend APIs written in NodeJS packaged in Docker containers

• Build and maintain REST APIs using NodeJS and NestJS/TypeORM
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and manage data with TypeORM — including migrations and query optimisation
• Subscribe to MQTT topics, process device telemetry, and persist it reliably
• Define API contracts with firmware and frontend teams

Infrastructure & Deployment

• Deploy services on AWS: EC2, VPC, Security Groups, Load Balancers, CloudWatch
• Containerise and run backend services using Docker
• Set up and manage Nginx / PM2 / Apache for reverse proxying, SSL termination, and load balancing
• Monitor service health via CloudWatch and respond to production incidents

Networking & Connectivity

• Configure cloud networking — VPC, subnets, security groups, routing
• Manage MQTT connectivity between IoT field devices and backend services
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues across device, server, and cloud layers

Scripting & Automation

• MQTT: Device telemetry ingestion; broker connectivity; topic design
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ports, firewall rules, VPC routing
• AWS: EC2, Security Groups, VPC, CloudWatch, Load Balancers, Lambda — in production
• Nginx / PM2 / Apache: Reverse proxy setup, SSL termination, load balancing
• Scripting: JS, Bash, Shell, YAML, JSON — for automation and config

Experience

• 5+ years of backend engineering in a production environment
• Hands‑on AWS experience in a live deployed system — not just sandbox or learning
• Exposure to IoT or device‑connected backends is a strong plus
• Comfortable owning your work end‑to‑end in a small engineering team
