Job summary

FundsIndia is looking for a Backend Developer to build and scale core systems powering mutual fund investments. You will focus on onboarding journeys, critical transaction flows, and high-reliability backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

You will design RESTful APIs, work on SQL databases and cache layers, and collaborate with product and data teams to deliver robust, scalable fintech solutions in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Solid DB knowledge (MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimization
• Familiarity with distributed systems, queues, and caching
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Exposure to UI frameworks like React
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and JVM internals
• Experience with secure APIs (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC)
• Ability to create technical design docs and drive design reviews
• Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for mutual fund investments and onboarding journeys (REST APIs with Java 21 and Spring Boot)

• Develop and manage integrations with external partners (AMCs, RTAs like CAMS/KFintech) and payment gateways
• Ensure high system reliability and accuracy for financial transactions and portfolio data
• Maintain code quality, unit tests, and documentation
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver seamless user experiences
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold coding standards
• Monitor systems and troubleshoot production issues, ensuring uptime

About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Developer to build and scale the core systems powering mutual fund investments at FundsIndia, taking care of the onboarding journeys. This role involves working on critical transaction flows, portfolio systems, and external integrations.

You will play a key role in ensuring high reliability, performance, and accuracy in investment-related workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 - 6 years of experience in backend development
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (preferred - Java + Spring Boot)
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Solid understanding of databases (MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimization
• Familiarity with distributed systems, queues, and caching (Redis, Kafka, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Exposure to UI frameworks like React
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and JVM internals.
• Experience implementing secure APIs using OAuth2, JWT, and role-based access control.
• Experience creating technical design documents and driving design reviews.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for mutual fund investment & Onboarding journeys (REST APIs using Java (21) & Spring Boot)
• Optimize APIs and backend systems for performance, scalability, and low latency (MSSQL/MySQL/postgresql databases)
• Develop and manage integrations with external partners (AMCs, RTAs like CAMS/KFintech, payment gateways, KYC providers, etc)
• Ensure high system reliability and accuracy for financial transactions & portfolio data
• Maintain high standards of code quality, unit testing, and documentation
• Use product thinking mindset with to solve business and tech problems
• Monitor systems, debug production issues, and ensure uptime of critical services
• Work closely with product, frontend, & data teams to deliver seamless user experiences
• Proven ownership of features from design to deployment
• Mentor junior engineers and drive code quality standards
• Exposure to AI Coding Assistant tools like claude Code

Good to Have

• Experience in fintech / wealth management / mutual funds domain
• Knowledge of MF workflows (order lifecycle, NAV applicability, cut-off timings)
• Experience integrating with CAMS, KFintech, or similar financial infrastructure
• Exposure to event-driven architecture and real-time systems
• Understanding of compliance, KYC, and regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, ELK)
