Role Summary
Work as part of the Project Development Team to build and provision non-production and production environments for an Azure AKS-based, multi-application platform. The role focuses on GitHub-managed provisioning code, reusable Infrastructure as Code, container orchestration, and application-specific deployment dependencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance provisioning scripts, IaC modules, templates, and GitHub workflows for the Azure AKS platform.
- Build and configure non-production and production environments from version-controlled repositories.
- Configure AKS and supporting Azure services required by multiple applications.
- Understand application configuration, deployment sequence, identity, networking, secrets, certificates, endpoints, and external dependencies.
- Translate platform and application requirements into reusable automation and environment configuration.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, security, and infrastructure teams to resolve provisioning and integration issues.
- Support application release activities by maintaining deployment workflows, environment configurations, release parameters, and version-controlled artifacts across non-production and production environments.
- Coordinate with development and database teams to validate release dependencies, deployment sequencing, database connectivity, schema or configuration prerequisites, and rollback readiness
- Apply pull-request, code-review, branching, versioning, and concise documentation practices.
Must-Have Requirements
- 10+ years of overall IT experience, with strong relevant experience in Azure DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or automation.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, AKS, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure Container Registry, and Helm.
- Experience provisioning Azure infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, or equivalent IaC tooling.
- Experience with GitHub repositories and GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or comparable CI/CD tooling.
- Ability to understand application architecture and automate application-specific infrastructure and deployment needs.
- Experience supporting application releases through CI/CD workflows, including artifact versioning, environment promotion, deployment sequencing, configuration management, and database dependency coordination
- Working knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, DNS, private endpoints, ingress, routing, and load balancing.
- Experience integrating authentication and external dependencies using Entra ID, managed identities, service principals, OAuth/Auth0, certificates, Key Vault, APIs, databases, or messaging services.
- Scripting capability in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or equivalent, with strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills.
Good to Have
- GitOps exposure using Argo CD or Flux; reusable Helm charts or Kustomize.
- Knowledge of AKS security, workload identity, RBAC, network policies, and container security scanning.
- Exposure to Azure Application Gateway or NGINX Ingress, API Management, Azure SQL, Storage, Service Bus, or Event Hubs.
- Exposure to database deployment automation, schema migration tools, connection and secret management, and Azure-managed database services
- Relevant Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, or DevOps certification; regulated-industry experience.
Candidate assessment
Prioritize Azure automation, AKS, GitHub provisioning, application-aware DevOps, and identity/network integration. Do not require expertise across every listed Azure service; relevant transferable experience may be considered.
