Job summary

Persistent Systems is looking for an experienced Azure Data Architect to design, implement, and govern scalable cloud-native data architectures supporting enterprise data, analytics, and reporting capabilities.

The role involves leading data integration, migration, and transformation using ETL/ELT, defining data strategies with stakeholders, and mentoring engineers and scientists on architectural best practices. Hybrid work with multiple locations is supported.

Qualifications

• Hands-on with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Extensive experience with Azure Databricks
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB
• Experience with Azure Blob Storage and Azure Data Lake
• Expertise in Azure Key Vault and related security controls
• Knowledge of Azure IaaS, Application Gateway, Load Balancer
• Experience with AI/ML integration and Power BI
• CI/CD pipelines and scripting (PowerShell)
• Data modeling using star and snowflake schemas
• Experience with IaC practices and monitoring frameworks

Responsibilities

• Implement data integration, migration, and transformation solutions using ETL/ELT methodologies.
• Define data strategies and roadmaps with stakeholders and AI teams.
• Guide data engineers, analysts, and scientists on architecture best practices.
• Work with DevOps to implement CI/CD and IaC for deployments.
• Ensure security and governance including data residency, Key Vault, and RBAC.
• Establish data governance: quality, lineage, cataloguing, compliance.
• Monitor, tune, and optimize data platforms for performance and cost.
• Lead migration from legacy platforms to Azure cloud.
• Evaluate emerging technologies like AI/ML for innovation.
• Create architecture docs: HLDs, technical diagrams, environment details.

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect with strong expertise in Azure data and analytics platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and governing scalable cloud-native data architectures while enabling enterprise data, analytics, and reporting capabilities.

What You'll Do:

• Implement data integration, migration, and transformation solutions using ETL/ELT methodologies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and Data Hub/Digital & AI teams to define data strategies and technical roadmaps
• Guide and mentor data engineers, analysts, and data scientists on architectural best practices.
• Work with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Azure Bicep) for automated deployments.
• Ensure compliance with security and governance requirements, including GDPR, HIPAA, UK data residency regulations, Key Vault, RBAC, and Private Endpoints.
• Establish and maintain data governance frameworks covering data quality, lineage, cataloguing, and compliance.
• Monitor and optimise data platforms for performance, scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
• Lead migration initiatives from legacy platforms to Azure cloud environments.
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI/ML and advanced analytics to drive innovation.
• Create architecture documents including HLDs, Technical Architecture Documents, Network Flow Diagrams, Environment Details, and Secret Inventory documentation.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Extensive experience with Azure Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB.
• Experience with Azure Blob Storage and Azure Data Lake.
• Expertise in Azure Key Vault, Azure Relay, and Data Gateway.
• Knowledge of Azure IaaS services.
• Experience with Application Gateway and Azure Load Balancer.
• Familiarity with Azure Web Apps, Function Apps, Logic Apps, and Service Bus.
• Knowledge of Azure Machine Learning services.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database development.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling using star and snowflake schemas.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Monitor and operational monitoring frameworks.
• Experience with Power BI and enterprise analytics solutions.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns.
