Job summary

Citigroup Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Development Engineer to design, modernize, and operate enterprise cloud platforms across AWS and Azure. You will drive platform engineering, automation, and large-scale modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience with Java/Spring Boot, microservices, data architectures, and full-stack patterns using Angular/React, APIs, and secure, scalable design.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS/Azure services and cloud architectures.
• Proven ability to design backend & distributed systems with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with MongoDB Atlas and data-lake platforms.
• End-to-end architecture ownership across backend and frontend stacks.

Job description

Cloud and Platform Development Engineer with 10+ years of experience designing, modernizing, and operating enterprise Applications on cloud platforms (Full stack ) across AWS and Azure, solutions architecture, or similar role.

Strong expertise in cloud architecture, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, observability, security, reliability engineering, and large-scale modernization initiatives

Required Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of core AWS/Azure services, including but not limited to:

• Backend & Distributed Systems: Strong Java/Spring Boot, microservices, REST/event-driven APIs and distributed-system design, including concurrency, caching, resiliency, idempotency and failure/recovery patterns.

  Data Architecture: Experience with MongoDB Atlas and relational/data-lake platforms, including data modelling, indexing, consistency, performance and high-volume operational workloads.

  Full-Stack Architecture: Ability to own end-to-end application architecture across backend and modern Angular/React frontends, including API/BFF patterns, authentication, performance and scalability.

• AWS/Azure Architecture, Cloud Modernization, Platform Engineering, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps, Azure Networking
• Compute: EC2, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk
• Storage: S3, EBS, EFS, Glacier
• Networking: VPC, Route 53, ELB, Direct Connect
• Databases: RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift
• Security & Identity: IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN) and cloud security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS).
• Knowledge of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred
