Job summary

Barclays in India invites applications for AVP - PC Central Controls to perform analytical reviews of securities, fees and investment income within investment banking. You will explain P&L movements, understand business drivers and identify control gaps, based in Pune or Chennai.

  • Maintain and analyze trading data for accuracy and provide insights to traders and senior staff.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and support external audits including handling auditor queries.
  • Communicate complex financial information to traders, risk professionals and senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coordinated trading activities.

Become part of Barclays as AVP - PC Central Controls where purpose of the role is perform Analytical review of securities, fees and investment income for investment banking business. This includes understanding the nature of each business, explaining the movements in Balance sheet/P&L, identifying the control gaps. To Be Successful, In This Role You Should Have
  • Product control experience in Investment bank.
  • In-depth knowledge of Financial product and markets of the relevant governance control.
  • Good understanding of end-to-end processes of an IB (Investment Banking) and associated controls.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings and the ability to interact.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • CFA / Masters in Finance / Financial Engineering.
  • Good control awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently with a spectrum of people from junior finance staff to front office business heads.
  • Mature and able to negotiate through difficult situations.
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Purpose of the role

To oversee the financial aspects of trading activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book, maintenance of compliance with regulatory requirements, and provision of insights into trading performance.

Accountabilities
  • Reconciliation of daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks to ensure they align with the valued positions in the trading book, investigating and resolving discrepancies between P&L figures to ensure they reflect the true economic value of the trading portfolio.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of trading risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues.
  • Maintenance and analysis of the bank’s trading data, ensuring its accuracy, completeness and consistency, and provision of insights to traders and senior colleagues on trading performance.
  • Preparation and submission of regulatory reports to authorities, and provision of support to external audits including addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are appropriately reflected in financial statements.
  • Effective communication of complex financial information to traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Cross functional collaboration to ensure a coordinated approach to trading activities.
