Job description

POSITION: Finance Shared Services Manager

This role provides centralized leadership and oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and broader Finance support functions for a portfolio of 500+ extended stay hotels, ensuring accurate, timely, and US GAAP‑compliant transaction processing, financial close, and reporting in accordance with company policies and internal controls. Based in Bangalore, India, the position serves as a key liaison between the India shared services team and U.S.-based finance, operations, and corporate leadership, supporting core finance activities such as financial analysis, variance reporting, budgeting assistance, and operational requests. This position requires strong English communication skills, deep experience with large ERP environments (Oracle preferred), advanced excel skills, and the ability to manage high‑volume, deadline‑driven finance operations at scale.

MAJOR / KEY JOB DUTIES
Accounts Payable
  • Oversee high-volume invoice processing, vendor master maintenance, disbursement processing, and expense recognition.
  • Ensure proper review, coding, accruals, and posting of expenses in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Serve as an escalation point for vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, and system issues.
  • Partner with U.S. stakeholders to support timely and accurate period close activities.
Accounts Receivable
  • Oversee billing accuracy, cash application, aging management, reconciliations, and collections.
  • Monitor delinquent balances, credit risk, and collection effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistent resolution of disputes, unapplied cash, and out-of-balance conditions.
  • Review trends, metrics, and aging and communicate risks/recommendations to management.
Accounting & Close
  • Oversee preparation and review of journal entries, BS reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness prior to submission to U.S. corporate accounting.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
Finance & Reporting Support
  • Support FP&A teams with standard and ad hoc financial reporting, including trend analysis, variance explanations, and management schedules.
  • Oversee preparation and validation of data supporting monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range planning activities.
  • Ensure financial data integrity across ERP and reporting tools used for operational and management decision-making.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and enhancement of finance dashboards.
People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop staff through clear goal setting, ongoing feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Build a strong control-oriented culture emphasizing accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and cross-training plans are executed and maintained.
  • Foster effective collaboration across teams and time zones.
Process Improvement & Controls
  • Identify and execute process improvement, automation, and standardization initiatives to improve efficiency and quality, including integration of AI tools
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and audit requirements.
  • Partner with systems and process teams on enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate risks, control gaps, or unusual trends impacting financial reporting.
OTHER DUTIES
  • Act as backup for finance leaders as needed.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, acquisitions, or transitions.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis for senior management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES
  • Accounting & Finance Knowledge: Strong understanding of accrual accounting, US GAAP, general ledger activity, AP and AR processes, as well as core finance concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and develop teams in a shared services or high-volume environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, and resolve issues.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills; able to communicate clearly with U.S.-based stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Organization & Prioritization: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Systems Expertise: Experience working in a large-scale ERP environment; Oracle strongly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Smartview and Tableau.
  • Professional Judgment: Ability to identify risks, make sound decisions, and escalation issues.
  • Customer Focus: Strong service mindset when working with internal and external partners.
ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Office-based role in a professional, collaborative shared services environment.
  • Requires at minimum 50% alignment with U.S. business hours to support stakeholders, including full alignment during peak periods.
  • Minimal physical demands; primarily sedentary office work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations, AP, AR, or shared services.
  • 5+ years of people management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, multi-entity operations.
  • Experience in real estate or retail industry strongly preferred
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, analysis or reporting
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred
