Job summary

Kumaran Systems in Chennai seeks an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Technology team, focusing on ensuring the highest quality for US Corporate Banking platforms. You will develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, leveraging Python-based automation frameworks like Robot Framework and pytest, and perform UI/API testing in an Agile environment.

You will design maintainable automation, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to CI/CD and AI‑driven testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Python-based test automation frameworks (Robot Framework and/or pytest).
• Experience implementing UI automation using Selenium/Playwright within Python frameworks.
• Proficiency with test management tools, particularly Jira and Zephyr.
• Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies; API test scripts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Technology team, focusing on ensuring the highest quality standards for our US Corporate Banking platforms. As a QE, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing comprehensive test strategies while leveraging Python-based automation frameworks, DevOps practices, and emerging technologies to deliver exceptional quality in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Execution

• Develop critical test plans and strategies aligned with business requirements and technical specifications
• Execute test scenarios and scripts for functional, system integration, and acceptance testing across multiple platforms
• Define and document criteria for testing based on a solid understanding of business dynamics
• Create, maintain, and execute both manual and automated test scripts for UI and API testing
• Present test results following defined testing methodology and quality standards
• Identify gaps in test coverage and implement strategies to address them

Automation & Technology

• Design and implement test automation solutions using Python-based frameworks, specifically Robot Framework and/or pytest
• Develop UI automation using Selenium/Playwright integrated within Python frameworks
• Create maintainable, scalable Python automation code with proper design patterns
• Manage test case organization and execution using Jira and Zephyr
• Demo automation scripts and test results within the scrum team to ensure quality of test scenarios
• Apply AI-driven testing approaches where appropriate to enhance efficiency

Agile Collaboration

• Work collaboratively within Agile team structures and workstreams
• Coordinate and communicate effectively across multiple cross‑functional teams and internal application stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and quality alignment
• Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives
• Support continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies
• Provide regular updates on testing progress and quality metrics to stakeholders

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance
• Strong proficiency in Python and Python-based test automation frameworks, particularly Robot Framework and/or pytest
• Experience implementing UI automation using Selenium/Playwright within Python frameworks
• Proficiency with test management tools, particularly Jira and Zephyr
• Strong experience in both manual and automated testing methodologies
• Experience creating and executing API test scripts
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

• Knowledge of US corporate banking and cash management systems, particularly:
  • Demand Deposit Accounts (DDA)
  • Liquidity management
  • Payment processing and systems
  • Virtual accounts
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD integration
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI applications in testing
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
• Experience with non‑functional testing tools (Locust, JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Prior experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Banking or financial services industry experience
• Business analysis experience in corporate banking environments
