Job summary

ETAP is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, engineer, and implement SCADA/DMS solutions for electrical networks in Delhi. You will participate in commissioning, integration, testing, and on-site support, collaborating with site leads and customers to deliver robust automation projects.

The role requires 2–5 years in automation and SCADA, with strong database and networking knowledge. Applicants should be prepared for hands-on field work and documentation.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience developing SCADA and network solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA databases.
• Experience with communications devices such as modems, routers, firewalls.
• Experience with DNP3, IEC60870-5-101/104/IEC61850, MODBUS.
• Experience with RTUs, IEDs, and PLCs.
• Knowledge of selecting components used in RTU/Control cabinets.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, develop, document, integration, testing, commissioning and support for SCADA/DMS/ADMS/OMS solutions.
• Commissioning of Control Room Setup; SCADA-DMS integration.
• System engineering for automation projects based on PLCs and field devices.
• On-site installation, configuration and troubleshooting of SCADA-DMS systems.
• Interact with customers and ETAP field personnel to ensure quality outcomes.
• Develop engineering deliverables like Control Philosophy, FDS, FAT/SAT, user manuals, and HMI graphics.
• Establish industrial network connectivity in OT layer; configure routers/switches/VLANs.
• CCNA knowledge is advantageous for network optimization.

Job Title: Automation Engineer

The job

The engineer’s role involves designing, engineering, development, documentation, integration, testing, commissioning, and supporting SCADA, DMS, or related Automation solutions for electrical networks of ETAP Software utilizing the skills, tools, and processes.

• Commissioning of Control Room Setup, SCADA-DMS system consists of RTU/PLC communication.
• System engineering for automation control projects based on Programmable controllers, operator/field devices using SCADA software.
• Show-up individuality with less supervision in commissioning and service activities in Power Equipment.
• Should communicate clearly and follow the instructions from Site Lead or Site manager and perform the task with at most quality. Interact and assistance to the customer, user, and other ETAP field personnel in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned applications.
• Perform on-site installation and configuration of SCADA-DMS system.
• Trouble shooting: - Testing of SCADA System. Fault finding & troubleshooting during and after the installation Process.
• Experience of making SCADA & DMS Database, Configurations of equipments like Router, RTU, FRTU, MODEM, Firewall etc.

Key responsibilities

• Hands on experience of executing SCADA-ADMS/Industrial/Solar projects.
• Experience in PLC/RTU/RMU/FRTU connectivity.
• Experience in implementing plant Historians and reporting tools.
• Experience in scripting - Python/ C#/ C++/VB.
• Experience in database configuration and stored procedure writing - SQL / any other DB.
• Experience on delivering engineering deliverables like – Control Philosophy, FDS, FAT procedure, SAT Procedure, User Manual, Architecture & HMI Graphics Development etc.
• Experience on establishing for Industrial Network Connectivity in OT Layer
• Experience on Router/managed switch/VLAN configuration with rules/policies. CCNA certification will be added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and handling customer interactions.
• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to analyse the problem and provide solutions.
• Help create Engineering work processes for development, testing and deployment.

Essential requirements

• Possess 2 to 5 years of experience in automation & SCADA solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA databases.
• Experience with Communications devices such as modems, Repeaters, GSM, GPRS, Gateway, Routers, Firewalls, Ethernet, and OFC.
• Experience of communications protocols such as DNP3, IEC60870-5-101/104/IEC61850, MODBUS Serial and TCP-IP.
• Experience with RTUs, IED, and PLC’s systems.
• Knowledge of selecting components used in RTU/Control cabinets like power supplies, UPS, batteries, GSM/GPRS/3G/4G Modems, Radio modems, interposing relays, MCBs, various types of terminals/connectors.
• Possess adequate and advanced experience designing SCADA/DMS/ADMS/OMS systems.
• Must have knowledge of PPC & MGC functionality.
• Must have knowledge of relay coordination

Desired skills

• Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Control Systems or Electronic/Electrical/CSE/IT Engineering or equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years of experience developing SCADA and network solutions.
• Applicable technical certifications preferred.
• Experience monitoring enterprise systems and installing security applications.
• Prior experience with VMware, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, VBScript and Python.
• Understanding of SQL, Mongo, Oracle & Pie databases.
• Relay integration on IEC-61850 protocol. (ABB, Siemens, Micom, Ashida, CGL & Schneider etc)
• Proficiency in communicating technical concepts both verbally and in written documentation.
