Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Industrial Engineering or MBA equivalent.
  • CA/CMA/CIA/MBA (Finance/Operations) preferred.
  • 7–12 years of experience in Internal/Operational Audit, Plant Audit or Process Audit.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute annual audit plans for plants, fabrication units, warehouses and yards.
  • Conduct audits of production processes, inventory management, procurement, dispatch, logistics and asset utilization.
  • Assess compliance with policies, SOPs and internal controls.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with observations, risks and financial implications.
  • Present findings to senior management with action plans and follow‑ups.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Auditing Head – Plants & Yards to lead and manage operational audits across manufacturing plants, fabrication units, warehouses, and storage yards. The role involves ensuring compliance with company policies, strengthening internal controls, safeguarding assets, minimizing operational risks, and improving process efficiency.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in operational audits, inventory verification, plant compliance, process improvement, and risk management within the Manufacturing, Scaffolding, Metals, Iron & Steel, or Engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Plant Audits

  • Develop and execute annual audit plans for manufacturing plants, fabrication units, warehouses, and yards.
  • Conduct operational audits to evaluate production processes, inventory management, procurement, dispatch, logistics, and asset utilisation.
  • Assess compliance with company policies, SOPs, and internal control systems.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Inventory & Asset Verification

  • Conduct physical verification of raw materials, finished goods, consumables, scaffolding materials, tools, equipment, and fixed assets.
  • Reconcile physical inventory with ERP records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory movement, stock aging, scrap generation, and material losses.
  • Ensure proper asset tagging, tracking, and utilization.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, statutory requirements, safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Identify fraud risks, control weaknesses, and process gaps.
  • Recommend improvements to strengthen governance and internal controls.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations across all locations.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting observations, risks, financial implications, and recommendations.
  • Present audit findings to senior management with practical action plans.
  • Maintain audit documentation and ensure proper follow‑up on corrective actions.
  • Develop audit dashboards and MIS reports for management review.

Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across plant and yard operations.
  • Standardize audit procedures and checklists.
  • Work closely with Production, Stores, Procurement, Finance, Quality, Logistics, and HR teams.
  • Promote operational excellence through data‑driven audit insights.
  • Lead and mentor the internal audit team.
  • Allocate audit assignments and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and statutory agencies whenever required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • CA, CMA, CIA, MBA (Finance/Operations), or equivalent professional qualification will be preferred.

Experience

  • 7–12 years of experience in Internal Audit, Operational Audit, Plant Audit, or Process Audit.
  • Mandatory experience in Manufacturing, Scaffolding, Iron & Steel, Metals, Engineering, Heavy Industrial, or Fabrication industries.
  • Experience auditing multiple manufacturing plants and warehouse/yard operations.
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of operational auditing and internal control frameworks.
  • Expertise in inventory audits, stock verification, and asset management.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP‑based audit and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and process mapping.
