Job summary

Maersk is seeking an Area Accounting Manager within the GSC ATR structure in Chennai. This role oversees finance and accounting across all business segments, managing a team to deliver day-to-day accounting and ensuring a true and fair view of financials.

The position acts as the prime focal for ATR area finance leadership. The candidate will work with Area CFO/FIN MGR, support audits, and drive improvements, including automation, within ATR and collaborate with COEs and HQ.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

The role of Area Finance Controller at GSC is a vital position as part of the regional ATR structure. This role independently handles the finance and accounting of an area covering all business segments such as Ocean, LnS, APMT IS etc. Manages a team to deliver the day-to-day accounting. Ensures true and fair view of financials are published effectively. This role is the prime focal at GSC for the Area finance leadership to represent ATR.

Specific responsibilities:

• Timely closure of books of accounts and reporting of financials.
• Maintain Financial Data Integrity of Agency & Principal books for respective Business Area / Entity
• Manages day to day accounting, and Leads a Team
• Engages with Area CFO/FIN MGR on performance measurement
• Participates in / supports Audits and Promotes good accounting practice in assigned accounts
• Provides analytical support to higher level Finance leadership teams
• Active participation and collaboration with interdependent teams for driving improvements in ATR
• Exhibit a mind-set of business value realization & optimization
• Proactively highlight any performance / process gaps and room for improvement and follow up with relevant stakeholders.
• Eye for automated solutions for the ATR transformation roadmap and ensure solutions are well understood by the team, thereby ensuring seamless execution
• Liaise with other teams in GSC like COEs, HQ etc to represent the area

Who we are looking for

• 8 to 12 years of prior experience in accounting & reporting
• Microsoft office proficiency (advanced excel is a must)
• SAP experience
• Experience in delivering results through others (both direct & indirect report)
• Experience in management reporting, financial controlling and analytical work.
