Open Designs in Chennai is seeking a WordPress developer to maintain and build sites across diverse clients. You will update core, themes and plugins, patch bugs, fix layouts, and ensure security and backups.

You will also implement custom features with Elementor and ACF, migrate sites, QA across devices, and collaborate with design and SEO teams to optimize meta tags, redirects and performance.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of hands-on WordPress development experience.
• Proficient in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery.
• Theme and plugin customization, with a basic understanding of hooks and filters.
• Comfortable with Elementor, ACF, Contact Form 7/WPForms, and Yoast/Rank Math.
• Experience with cPanel/hPanel, FTP and phpMyAdmin.
• Basic Git.
• Strong debugging skills and the ability to handle several client sites at once.
• Clear communication for handling client change requests.

Responsabilités

• Update WordPress core, themes and plugins safely, with a backup taken before each update.
• Fix bugs, broken layouts, form and mail issues, and plugin conflicts.
• Clean up malware, harden security (SSL, login protection, file permissions) and monitor sites.
• Make routine content updates, such as pages, banners, project listings and blog posts.
• Handle hosting tasks in cPanel/hPanel: DNS, domains, email, SSL, file manager, database backup and restore.
• Basic speed optimisation (caching, image compression, Core Web Vitals).
• Keep a maintenance log for each client and close requests within the agreed TAT.
• New projects: convert designs to WordPress with Elementor/ACF, write custom PHP forms, and QA across devices.
• Migrate sites from dev to live, then run QA across devices and browsers.
• Coordinate with design and SEO teams on meta tags, schema, redirects and sitemaps.

• - Fix bugs, broken layouts, form and mail issues, and plugin conflicts
• - Clean up malware, harden security (SSL, login protection, file permissions) and monitor sites
• - Make routine content updates, such as pages, banners, project listings and blog posts
• - Handle hosting tasks in cPanel/hPanel: DNS, domains, email, SSL, file manager, database backup and restore
• - Basic speed optimisation (caching, image compression, Core Web Vitals)
• - Keep a maintenance log for each client and close requests within the agreed TAT

New Projects

• - Convert Figma/XD designs into WordPress sites using custom or child themes, Elementor and ACF
• - Write custom PHP: enquiry forms, SMTP/PHPMailer mail handlers, small modules
• - Work with MySQL: queries, migrations, search-replace, data imports
• - Set up and customise WooCommerce
• - Migrate sites from dev to live, then run QA across devices and browsers
• - Coordinate with the design and SEO teams on meta tags, schema, redirects and sitemaps

REQUIREMENTS

• - 1+ year of hands-on experience in WordPress development
• - Good working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery
• - Theme and plugin customisation, with a basic understanding of hooks and filters
• - Comfortable with Elementor, ACF, Contact Form 7/WPForms, and Yoast/Rank Math
• - Experience with cPanel/hPanel, FTP and phpMyAdmin
• - Basic Git
• - Strong debugging skills and the ability to handle several client sites at once
• - Clear communication for handling client change requests

GOOD TO HAVE

• - Experience removing malware from WordPress sites
• - WooCommerce payment gateway integration
• - WordPress REST API, or basic Laravel/CodeIgniter
• - Exposure to React/Next.js
