Job summary

WSP India is seeking an Associate– Project Planning to lead and grow the Project Planning team across PMCM India offices. You will ensure planners are aligned with priorities and deliver high‑quality, timely schedules using Primavera P6 and other tools.

Key requirements include 16+ years in planning, strong leadership, governance, and experience with large infrastructure projects. This role offers a hybrid work model and opportunities to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Civil preferred.
  • Masters degree is an added advantage for senior roles.

  • Drive continuous improvement, including automation and better utilisation of planning tools (Primavera P6).
  • Plan resources, manage utilisation, and allocate workloads across planning teams.
  • Track performance, schedule quality, progress updates, and KPIs; report to UK Planning leads.
  • Oversee baseline development, schedule updates, look‑ahead schedules, forecasting, and governance.

Job Description

Associate– Project Planning is responsible for leading, developing, and continuously improving the Project Planning team across the PMCM India offices. The role ensures that planners are effectively utilised, aligned with project priorities, and consistently delivering high‑quality, timely, and accurate project schedules and planning outputs. This position oversees end‑to‑end project planning processes, ensures adherence to planning standards, governance, and industry best practices, and drives operational excellence through proactive workload planning, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.



Responsibilities


  • Establish, refine, and govern project planning processes across all PMCM India teams, ensuring consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop Principal Planners, Senior Planners and Planners, raising capability levels and promoting consistency across teams.

  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, including automation, template improvements, and better utilisation of planning tool -Primavera P6.

  • Plan resources, manage utilisation, and allocate workloads effectively across planning teams to ensure operational continuity and balanced capacity.

  • Track planning team performance, schedule quality, progress updates, and KPIs, and communicate status updates and risks to Project Managers and UK Planning leads.

  • Monitor and audit adherence to planning governance standards, proactively addressing gaps through coaching, corrective actions, and updated workflows.

  • Support project delivery planning by collaborating with Project Managers, Engineering teams, and UK Planning leads to ensure required schedule information is issued on time and meets quality expectations.

  • Oversee baseline development, schedule updates, look‑ahead schedules, progress measurement, variance analysis, and forecasting.

  • Ensure rigorous quality checks on all schedules, validating compliance with procedures, WBS structures, coding standards, templates, and reporting requirements.

  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and service excellence, ensuring the team delivers reliable and high‑value planning support to UK and internal project teams.



Key Competencies / Skills


  • Expert‑level proficiency Primavera P6. Proficiency in MS Project, TILOS, and Power BI.

  • Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring team members, forecasting workloads, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  • Deep understanding of planning governance, schedule assurance, and quality standards.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for effective engagement with Project Managers, Engineering teams, UK Planning, and external stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with the ability to anticipate issues and optimise schedule workflows.

  • High digital literacy, including advanced proficiency in MS Office and exposure to reporting/analytics tools such as Power BI.



Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering. Masters will be an added advantage.

  • Minimum 16+ years of relevant experience in Project Planning, Scheduling, or related project control functions, with significant experience in leading or managing planning teams.

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, and other planning/scheduling systems.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (data analysis, dashboards, tracking).

  • Experience working on UK‑based or large‑scale infrastructure/rail projects is advantageous.

  • Professional qualifications such as ChPP, PMQ, PFQ or other equivalent recognised professional bodies are preferred.

  • Desirable: Exposure to analytics/reporting tools such as Power BI for performance monitoring and decision support.
