Position Summary
The Associate Professor at UNSW Bengaluru is an academic role focused on delivering highquality teaching, contributing to research, and supporting academic governance. This positionis integral to the success of UNSW Bengaluru’s academic mission, ensuring that studentsreceive a world-class education aligned with global standards. The Associate Professor plays akey role in curriculum delivery across undergraduate programs, actively engages in scholarlyactivity, and fosters an inclusive and a supportive learning environment. Beyond teaching, therole involves contributing to curriculum innovation, collaborating with colleagues across UNSWcampuses, and participating in initiatives that strengthen academic quality and institutionalreputation. The Associate Professor is expected to maintain an emerging research profile,contribute to faculty development, and uphold academic standards consistent with UNSW andUniversity Grants Commission (UGC) frameworks, while promoting equity, diversity, andstudent success.
Accountabilities
- Lead undergraduate teaching aligned with UNSW curricula and UGC standards
- Design and review curriculum content, learning activities, and assessment frameworks.
- Mentor academic staff and contribute to faculty development programs.
- Supervise undergraduate coursework.
- Maintain a strong research profile with publications in high-impact journals.
- Contribute to academic governance, including committee leadership and policy development.
- Ensure compliance with academic integrity, quality assurance, and accreditation standards.
- Represent UNSW Bengaluru in academic, industry, and professional forums.
- Promote inclusive teaching practices and support student equity and diversity.
- Collaborate with UNSW Sydney faculty to ensure curriculum equivalence and researchalignment.
- Build partnerships with industry, government, and external institutions.
- Support strategic planning and contribute to campus-wide academic initiatives.
- Uphold UNSW values and contribute to a high-performance academic culture.
- Ensure safe and compliant academic practices in teaching and research.
Skills & Experience
- A PhD in statistics, data science or relevant mathematical sciences.
- A substantial record of publications in top, peer-reviewed journals in statistics, datascience or mathematics.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impactwith clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellenceas well as the capacity for research leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery.
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online deliverymethods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g.,relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels andscales).
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds andsupport student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Strong track record of successful postgraduate supervision.
- A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- Demonstrated record of competitive external research funding.
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with adiverse range of students and staff.
- Excellent leadership skills in community and professional engagement.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action,together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevanthealth and safety training.
