Position Summary

The Associate Professor at UNSW Bengaluru is an academic role focused on delivering high quality teaching, contributing to research, and supporting academic governance. This position is integral to the success of UNSW Bengaluru’s academic mission, ensuring that students receive a world-class education aligned with global standards. The Associate Professor plays a key role in curriculum delivery across undergraduate programs, actively engages in scholarly activity, and fosters an inclusive and a supportive learning environment. Beyond teaching, the role involves contributing to curriculum innovation, collaborating with colleagues across UNSW campuses, and participating in initiatives that strengthen academic quality and institutional reputation. The Associate Professor is expected to maintain an emerging research profile, contribute to faculty development, and uphold academic standards consistent with UNSW and University Grants Commission (UGC) frameworks, while promoting equity, diversity, and student success

Skills & Experience

• A PhD or equivalent qualification in relevant mathematical sciences.
• Demonstrated research ability in mathematics.
• Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery of mathematics courses at university level.
• Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales).
• Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Strong track record of successful postgraduate supervision.
• A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
• Demonstrated record of competitive external research funding.
• High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
• Excellent leadership skills in community and professional engagement.
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills
