Job summary

Biomed Central is seeking an experienced editor with a PhD in polymer chemistry to oversee editorial processes for original research submissions and peer review. You will collaborate with editors across the Nature family, assess manuscript novelty, and guide strategic representation of your subject area.

You will engage with the international scientific community, attend conferences, and travel as needed to meet researchers and promote high standards of scientific publishing.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in polymer chemistry with a focus on polymer synthesis, polymer materials or polymer processing.
• Postdoctoral research experience preferred but not essential; fundamental knowledge required.
• Strong scientific comprehension, decision quality and critical scientific evaluation.
• Passion for science and willingness to learn beyond your specialty.
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and assess novelty, context and implications of research across disciplines.
• Willingness to travel and engage with scientists worldwide.
