Job summary

DXC Technology in Indore, India seeks a seasoned z/OS specialist to own a critical C++ component on z/OS. You will collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver secure, efficient software and guide junior team members within an agile framework.

The role requires hands-on z/OS development, JCL/batch processing experience, and familiarity with Linux/Windows/AIX environments, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years hands-on z/OS development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent.
• Proven proficiency in JCL and batch processing on IBM z/OS.
• Experience with IBM I / iSeries under ILE.
• Strong English communication and collaboration with clients.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the z/OS part of a complex C++ component over up to two years.
• Learn basic C++ development on z/OS and IBM i.
• Develop, deploy, and document secure, maintainable software.
• Develop, optimize, support and document the component; maintain knowledge transfer.
• Work in Agile to design, develop, and maintain software solutions.
• Engage in issue resolution with verification, isolation, testing, and documentation.
• Identify and document client requirements; participate in roadmap planning.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Work with underpinning system infrastructure as required.
• Provide guidance to junior team members.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Primary Location – Indore(India)

Required Skills:

• Good command of English as the working language
• 10 to 12 years of hands‑on experience in z/OS technology and development.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven proficiency in JCL and batch processing under IBM z/OS.
• Familiarity with using IBM I / iSeries under ILE.
• Experience with software development in at least one of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, C, C++, or Python.
• Solid experience with bash scripting, USS and CICS.
• Demonstrable ability to handle issue resolution processes including verification, isolation, correction, testing, and documentation.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with clients and other stakeholders.

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the insurance domain.
• Familiarity with IMS on z/OS.
• Basic knowledge of OOP (Object Oriented Programming), Git, Java, COBOL, Python, z/OS ASSEMBLER, DB2, VSAM and ticketing systems.
• Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with operating systems such as Linux, Windows, AIX, iOS, and Android.
• Skilled in using Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams.

Roles and Responsibilites:

• Take full responsibility for the z/OS part of a complex, business‑critical C++ component, a process that could extend up to two years.
• Willingness to learn basic C++ software development on z/OS and IBM i.
• Develop, and deploy secure, maintainable, and efficient software products and systems.
• Develop, optimize, support and document the aforementioned component. Maintain comprehensive technical and or user documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and transparency.
• Work collaboratively using agile methodologies to design, develop, and maintain software solutions.
• Engage in issue resolution tasks, ensuring detailed verification, isolation, correction, testing, and documentation processes.
• Accurately identify and document client and stakeholder requirements, participating in the roadmap and strategic planning sessions.
• Effectively manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Work with underpinning system infrastructure as required.
• Provide support and technical guidance to junior and less experienced team members.
• Stay up to date on industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies.
