Job summary

A leading construction firm in Maharashtra is looking for an experienced Materials Manager. The role involves full material accounting, custody management of assets, and coordinating material movements. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in store management, preferably in highways or railway projects. Qualifications

Job description
JOB PURPOSE

The position at site level is responsible for full material accounting of receipts/issues; custody management of assets; maintaining loan issue records, controlling stocks and monitoring with required coordination with other departments such as planning, site, accounts and C&C.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Receipt of materials/assets as per PO/WO/Movement orders to site
  • Processing GRN after inspection by indenter and satisfying the requirements of PO and verification of invoice
  • Issuing of materials/assets for consumption/loan as per material/asset request form duly approved by respective site HOD/PM
  • Up-to-date entries into system and maintaining the outward register
  • Verifying purchase indents raised by HODs with respect to stock availability and recommending quantity for purchase
  • Proper stock ledger maintenance
  • During mobilization/demobilization coordinate all material/asset movements in and out of site with HO MM control, including all statutory compliances and transport/loading/unloading activities
  • Maintain mobilization/demobilization schedule
  • MIS data related to store inventories, status of receipt of material and issues with physical availability
  • Client billing, issue to projects and Sub‑Contractor Reconciliation data maintained and informed to Accounts and other related departments
EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS
  • Subcontractor / Vendors
INTERNAL INTERACTIONS
  • Site PM and site HODs (Finance/C&C/Planning/Site/PM/HR)
  • HOD MM function lead at HO
  • Site staff
FINANCIAL DIMENSIONS
  • Ensure with judicious monitoring of purchases/consumptions, the site store stock will be almost nil at end of job.
  • Routinely monitor stock values—excess/nonmoving/slow moving.
  • Record all assets are intact with respective custody managers and account wear and tear/loss due to accident/theft.
  • Ensure all materials/assets with Store custody are safe from any loss.
OTHER DIMENSIONS
  • Construction materials purchase/consumption/stock to extent of Rs 100 crores.
  • Assets monitoring with value of assets at site up to Rs 30 crores.
  • Other materials/spares/tools/consumables purchase/consumption/stock up to Rs 5 crores.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited college or university. Diploma in Material Management essential for sites handling project budget in excess of Rs 500 crores.

Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering preferred.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
  • 10-15 years’ experience in handling stores and leading a team of 10 staff members including store keepers and associated labor.
  • 5-7 years of experience in handling stores in Highways/Railway Projects is preferred.
