Job summary

Adani Group’s wind turbine blade manufacturing unit in Mundra is seeking an Area Incharge to supervise shop floor activities, material handling, and equipment maintenance. You will ensure schedules and quality targets are met while driving safety and continuous improvement across processes.

The role requires 8+ years in manufacturing shop floor management and a Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, with knowledge of composites and CMM.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in shop floor management within a manufacturing environment, preferably wind turbine blade production.
  • Diploma or B.Tech/BE in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of composite material handling, equipment maintenance, and production safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shop floor activities including mold preparation and layup to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Oversee material handling, inventory control, and coordination with maintenance teams.
  • Implement quality control measures and perform routine inspections with QA.
  • Manage operation and maintenance of production equipment and curing systems.
  • Drive process improvement to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and conduct regular safety audits.
  • Track production performance metrics and report to Head of Production.
  • Provide training and mentor junior staff on procedures and safety.

Job Purpose

The Area Incharge is responsible for supervising shop floor activities related to wind turbine blade manufacturing, ensuring that production schedules and quality standards are met. This role oversees material handling, equipment operation, and maintenance, while implementing process improvements and safety protocols. Additionally, the Area Incharge tracks production performance, provides training, and supports continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.

Responsibilities
Shop Floor Management
  • Supervise shop floor activities, including mold preparation, composite material layup, and curing processes, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Coordinate the activities of production teams to maintain efficient workflow and address any operational issues promptly.
Material Handling and Inventory Management
  • Oversee the handling and storage of raw materials, including composite fibers and resins, ensuring proper material handling procedures and efficient inventory management.
  • Monitor material usage and coordinate with supply chain teams to manage inventory levels and avoid production delays.
Quality Control Implementation
  • Oversee the application of quality control measures at various production stages, including visual inspections, mechanical property testing, and dimensional checks using coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address and resolve any quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of production equipment, including mold systems, resin mixing and dispensing machines, and curing ovens.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability and prevent production downtime.
Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements in areas such as mold preparation, resin application techniques, and curing process optimization to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies to advance production capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
Safety Protocols
  • Implement and monitor safety measures specific to blade manufacturing, including handling of high-temperature curing systems and hazardous materials like epoxy resins.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure compliance with safety regulations and minimize risks.
Performance Tracking and Reporting
  • Track and analyze production performance metrics, such as blade output rates, defect rates, and cycle times, using production management software and data analysis tools.
  • Prepare detailed performance reports and present findings to the Head of Production, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Training and Development
  • Provide training and support to production staff on technical procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Mentor junior team members and facilitate skill development to enhance overall team performance and capabilities.

Qualifications
