Job summary

Adani Mundra is seeking a seasoned power plant operations expert with 9+ years of experience in thermal plants. The role focuses on monitoring BTG systems, executing start-up/shutdowns, and ensuring safety, EMS compliance, and efficient energy use.

You will lead initiatives in digitization, automation, and process improvements while coordinating with Maintenance Engineers to uphold IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA guidelines. The position demands strong technical judgment and safety discipline.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 9+ years of experience in power plant operations focused on thermal plants.
• Experience in power generation industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP and Electrical Systems for optimal performance.
• Execute start-up and shut-down operations of plant systems as required.
• Observe plant parameters and respond promptly to deviations.
• Perform routine changeovers of equipment and trial of emergency drives.
• Handle plant emergencies related to BTG and coordinate responses.
• Manage switchyard and grid emergencies to minimize impact on operations.
• Ensure safe isolation and normalization of equipment during operations or emergencies.
• Perform FGD operations and monitor FGD system parameters.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date plant parameter logbooks.
• Promote energy conservation (SOC, APC, DM water, Heat Rate) and monitor chemistry for compliance.
• Implement digitization and automation strategies to improve efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and PTW/SOPs; report defects to shift in charge.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Engineers and other stakeholders.

Job description

Responsibilities

System Monitoring and Operations:

Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, and Electrical Systems to ensure optimal performance.

Execute start-up and shut-down operations of the plant systems, as required.

Maintain close observation of plant parameters and respond promptly to any deviations.

Perform routine changeover of equipment and trial of emergency drives.

Emergency Response and Equipment Handling:

Handle plant emergencies related to Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) and coordinate responses.

Manage emergencies related to switchyards and grid problems to minimize impact on operations.

Ensure safe isolation and normalization of equipment in response to operational needs or emergencies.

Perform Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and monitor FGD system parameters.

Maintain all plant parameter logbooks accurately and up-to-date.

Energy Conservation and Environmental Compliance:

Promote energy conservation in all activities, focusing on Specific Oil Consumption (SOC), Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), Demineralized (DM) Water usage, and Heat Rate.

Monitor critical chemistry parameters to ensure environmental compliance and operational efficiency.

Implement and oversee FGD operations to reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations.

Business Sustainability:

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Notify and report defects, problems in the plant to the shift in charge in a timely manner.

Digitization and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.

Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

BE/B.tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range of years):

Minimum of 9+ years of experience in power plant operations with a focus on thermal power plants

Preferred Industry:

Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.
