Job Purpose: As a Colliery Engineer, the core objective is to oversee and manage various engineering aspects of coal mining operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Key responsibilities include planning, installation, and maintenance of critical infrastructure such as electrical systems, pipelines, and machinery to facilitate safe and efficient mining activities. Additionally, the role involves coordinating monsoon arrangements, water management, and environmental initiatives, while also focusing on budgeting, compliance, and technological advancements to optimize operational efficiency and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Colliery Engineer - Coal Mining

Safety Compliance and Equipment Installation:

Ensure all mining machines are equipped with safety features as per DGMS norms, including in-pit conveying systems, mobile crushing units, trucks, tippers, excavators, loaders, and dozers.

Plan and oversee the installation of overhead lines in all pits to ensure proper illumination as per DGMS norms.

Monsoon Preparation and Infrastructure Planning:

Develop and implement monsoon arrangements for mine sump de-watering, pipeline laying, quarry sub-station, and installation of water treatment plants (WTP).

Plan, install, and maintain pumps, pipelines, and drip irrigation systems to support horticulture activities in existing and proposed plantation areas within the mine area.

Electrical Safety and Compliance:

Conduct electrical safety audits, reviews, and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to safety standards during construction, operation, and maintenance of sub-stations, transmission, and distribution lines.

Obtain DGMS approvals for all electrical installations and ensure timely shifting of mine sub-stations and overhead lines.

Statutory Compliance and Budget Management:

Maintain all DGMS records related to mine operations, including records for HEMMs, hiring hours of mining equipment, tree cutting machine data, horticulture designs, and dewatering data.

Prepare CAPEX and OPEX budgets for the mining department, including monthly MIS and provision preparation.

Liaison and Advanced Technology Adoption:

Liaise with D.M.S. (Mech.) and D.M.S. (Elect.) to ensure smooth and safe mine operations.

Implement advanced technologies for mechanization and automation in mines to enhance efficiency and safety.

Equipment Lifecycle Management and Energy Conservation:

Monitor the lifecycle of equipment and facilitate the disposal of obsolete equipment.

Adopt energy conservation measures in day-to-day mining operations to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy consumption.

Implement and Optimize Digital Solutions:

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deploy digital tools that align with business objectives.

Ensure the effective utilization of digital platforms to improve team efficiency and productivity.
