Position description

The Associate Manager in the Blast Furnace - Mechanical department at Jindal Ferrous Limited plays a pivotal role in overseeing the mechanical operations and maintenance of blast furnace equipment within the mining and metals industry. This position demands a strategic and hands-on leader who ensures optimal performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems critical to iron production. The role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical failures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that align with the company’s operational goals and industry best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance activities of blast furnace equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and adherence to safety standards.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues promptly.
• Manage and optimize resource allocation including manpower, tools, and materials for efficient maintenance operations.
• Conduct root cause analysis of mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to blast furnace mechanical operations.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and improvement projects for senior management review.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing mechanical system performance data and recommending upgrades or process enhancements.
• Mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers and technicians to build a skilled and responsive maintenance team.
• Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of critical spares and mechanical components.
• Knowledge of BF proper, BLT, Stove, GCP, SGP etc
