Job summary

WSP India in Bengaluru is seeking a senior Fire Engineer to lead fire engineering services across varied projects. You will develop fire strategies, perform risk assessments, and ensure code-compliant designs for buildings and transit facilities, coordinating with UK and internal design teams.

The role requires 15+ years of experience, a solid background in fire safety systems, and the ability to guide junior engineers while delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in fire engineering or related field.
  • Experience on buildings, rail or road projects with fire design scope.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to lead proposals, manage projects and coordinate teams.
  • Proactive communicator with design teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Fire Engineering services on projects of all scales.
  • Preparing fee proposals and project management for iCRC scope and UK bids.
  • Developing fire strategies for stations and associated facilities from concept to construction.
  • Conducting Fire Risk Assessments to meet relevant codes.
  • Undertaking Fire Risk Assessments or Site Audits when needed.
  • Liaising with UK/internal design teams to develop fire engineering designs.
  • Coordinating across multidisciplinary teams for coherent design information.
  • Collaborating with project leadership to define scope, programme, and resources.
  • Proactively developing projects and guiding the design team.
  • Peer reviewing technical work and providing coaching.
  • Specifying fire safety systems: alarms, detection, suppression, hydrants.
  • Organising Qualitative Design Reviews for major projects.
  • Supporting staff development and maintaining high technical standards.

We welcome applications from candidates with excellent technical knowledge and experience in Buildings, Rail and/or Road Fire Engineering with the following qualities and experience to join our Building Specialists team in India

  • A good understanding of interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process
  • Able to take a brief from the project lead and deliver & control the tasks required, within time and budget
Responsibilities
  • Managing Fire Engineering services on projects of all scales
    • Preparing fee proposals and project management for iCRC scope of works and support on the UK bids.
    • Developing fire strategies for stations and associated ancillary buildings from concept stage to construction - code-compliant solutions and Fire Engineering designs.
    • Fire Risk Assessments for Compliance with relevant Fire Safety Codes
    • To undertake Fire Risk Assessments or Site Audits when necessary
    • Liaising with UK/ internal design teams to develop fire engineering designs
    • Ensure coordination across multidisciplinary teams to deliver coherent and compliant design information
    • Collaborate with project leadership to define project scope, programme, deliverables, and resource requirements.
    • Taking a proactive approach in developing the projects and working with the design team
    • Peer reviewing technical work prepared by others
    • Design specification of fire safety systems such as fire alarm and detection, fire suppression systems and facilities for firefighter intervention (fire hydrant designs)
    • Organising Qualitative Design Reviews (QDRs) for major projects
    • Provide coaching, and technical guidance to junior and senior team members
    • Support staff development and training initiatives
    • Enhance team capability and maintain high technical competence standards

Qualifications
  • BEng/BSc/MEng in Electrical/Mechanical/ Fire Engineering
