Job summary

Caterpillar Bangalore is seeking a Design Engineer to join the DG&RS team. You will contribute to the design and development of diesel and gas generator systems, including base frames, enclosures, and control panels. The role requires Creo, Teamcenter, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering and suppliers.

The position emphasizes 5 days per week on-site in Bangalore and interaction with multiple disciplines to ensure DFA/DFM friendly products and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of design and development experience.
• Proficiency with Creo and PLM Teamcenter.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary teams and with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop base frame, enclosure, air intake, exhaust, fuel systems, control panel and circuit breaker panels for diesel/gas generators.
• Perform design calculations and structural analysis to meet requirements.
• Create CAD models and drawings for systems and components using Creo.
• Apply geometric tolerancing and good drawing practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to deliver on time.

You will be integral part of mechanical design team which work on concepting, designing and development of Base frame, Enclosure, control panel, breaker panel, exhaust lines, air intake & fuel systems. This position directly impacts Caterpillar’s current and future generator products developed for various markets.**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:*** Design and development of Base frame, Enclosure, air intake, exhaust, fuel systems, control panel and circuit breaker panels for diesel and gas generator products* Perform design calculations, structural analysis and mechanical components selection to meet product functional design requirements* Create new CAD models and drawings for systems, sub-systems, assemblies, and components using Creo.* Understand and apply good drawing practice, including geometric tolerancing.* Use knowledge of various manufacturing processes to deliver the solution that meets DFA & DFM* Provide technical support to quality & purchasing during part development* Work with business unit, SMEs, Project leads, electrical and mechanical engineers for delivering projects on time.**Basic Requirements:*** Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering* Minimum 2 years of experience with design and development of mechanical components* Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Creo) and PLM software (Teamcenter)* Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams and with suppliers**Desired Qualification:*** Communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders **Additional information:** This job requires 5days in a week working from office.**Posting Dates:**October 6, 2026 - October 13, 2026Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
