Job summary

Standard Chartered in Bengaluru is seeking an Associate Director (WRB) with experience in A-IRB models, credit risk scorecards and risk strategies for retail and SME lending. You will drive 2–3 engagements simultaneously, developing predictive models and providing analytic support to global businesses.

Role requires hands-on involvement and strong stakeholder communication. Responsibilities include understanding Group requirements, building statistically derived models, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or related quantitative field.
  • 4–6 years of hands-on statistical modelling and data pattern analysis experience.
  • Solid coding background with Python (preferred) and SAS or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 1–2 engagements concurrently and ensure timely delivery.
  • Explain modelling outputs and inferences to senior stakeholders in non-technical terms.
  • Engage in data activities on the ground and support business implementations of risk models.
  • Provide analytical support to risk analytics across Retail/SME portfolios.

The individual will drive delivery (2-3 engagements at any given time) of A-IRB Model, Credit Risk Scorecards and associated Credit Risk Strategies (as well as other risk analytics) for all Retail and SME portfolios of Standard Chartered Bank. The individual is expected to be hands‐on at all times.

The individual is expected to drive timely delivery with assigned resources on an engagement, while ensuring compliance to prevailing / applicable standards / legislation / policies

Qualifications


  • Bachelors / Advanced (Masters or higher) degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering, MBA or other quantitative discipline

  • Hands‑on experience of 4 – 6 years, in the past in statistical modeling, mining data and understanding data patterns is an absolute necessary to lead engagements.

  • A solid background in coding with Python (preferred), SAS, or comparable tools is a fundamental requirement.

  • Understanding of regulations for A-IRB will be considered a plus

  • Experience in directly interacting with Business and exposure to international markets will be a plus
