Job summary

Standard Chartered India is seeking a Sales Manager to drive a high-impact sales culture and achieve budgeted targets through effective team leadership and customer-focused strategies.

You will oversee a team of managers, coordinate with partners, and ensure compliant and efficient sales operations while delivering ongoing business growth in a dynamic banking environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate with strong sales experience and leadership capability.
  • 2–3 years sales experience with at least 1 year in direct sales team management.
  • Must be able to lead 15–50 sales staff with strong people management skills.
  • Experience handling Deposit Products for a bank is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the right sales culture and attitude across the team.
  • Deliver budgeted sales targets and increase productivity.
  • Deepen customer relationships through multi-product selling and bundles.
  • Manage customer experience and ensure minimal NIL customer complaints.
  • Lead governance, risk, and compliance in day-to-day sales operations.
  • Build and coach a team of 2–4 managers and ensure performance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous sales improvement effort, through active engagement with Product, Credit & Operations

  • Deliver budgeted sales target and increase sales productivity
  • Segment focus, customer focus needs-based selling
  • Deepen customer relationship penetration through multi-product selling or bundles around anchor product
  • Drive and monitor area sales strategy, create sales opportunities, evaluate effectiveness
  • Build and manage relationship with business partners / intermediaries / channels
  • Sells anchored product with bundling, mainly focuses outbound activities
Processes
  • Ensure CDD, MLP & TCF diligence and adherence to operational risk controls and procedures in day-to-day sales teams management
  • Being measured against Governance and Operational Risk review result of responsible sales units
  • Ensure no adverse findings in internal / external audit, governance and compliance review
  • To comply with all applicable money laundering prevention procedures and, in particular, report any suspicious activity to the Unit Money Laundering Prevention Officer and line manager
People & Talent
  • Lead and manage a team of 2 to 4 Managers

  • Adhere to all policies, guidelines and procedures, comply with local regulatory requirements, reflect best practices

Governance
  • To comply with all applicable money laundering prevention procedures and, in particular, report any suspicious activity to the Unit Money Laundering Prevention Officer and line manager
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, elevate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent)
Key stakeholders
  • Customers : New-to-Bank Affluent and Emerging affluent Clientele along with inactive portfolio activation if mandated by the bank

Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate. MBA’s will be preferred.
  • Sales experience of at-least 2-3 years of which 1 year in managing a direct sales team will be preferred
  • Should possess strong people management and leadership skills to manage approx 15-50 sales people
  • Experience in handling Deposit Products of a Bank would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite.
  • Good knowledge of the selected market and customer segments would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, which encourages and promotes enthusiasm and team spirit.
