Job summary

Molex India Business Services is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Fixture Designer) with solid fundamentals in fixture design. You will develop gauges and fixtures, model complex parts, and generate 3D models and 2D drawings while ensuring design for manufacturability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret specifications, maintain documentation, and support manufacturing optimization. 1–3 years of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/NTTF/GTTC in Mechanical Engineering.
• Up to 3 years in Fixture Design for precision components.
• Good understanding of molding, sheet metal tooling, fabrication and assembly processes.
• GD&T knowledge with BIW fixture background.
• Proficient in generating 3D models and 2D drawings using solid modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Design and sustenance of Gauge and Fixtures for the quality team on the assembly line.
• Create 3D models and assemblies with accuracy and adherence to specs.
• Interpret technical specifications and voice of customers into detailed designs and drawings.
• Create and maintain BOMs and release packages in Teamcenter and ECTR.
• Participate in design reviews to gather feedback and drive improvements.
• Conduct design feasibility studies and propose design optimizations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to address issues and support efficient processes.

Job description

We are seeking a proficient and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer (Fixture Designer) with basic understanding in fixture design, GD&T, machining, DFM and strong shop-floor exposure. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles and demonstrate excellent 3D modeling and 2D drafting skills.

Our Team

This team has global engineering ownership across several Connector Product Lines, provides Product Design and Validation Services, designs and develops Mold & Die Tooling, Gage & Fixture, Product Testing Systems and Application Tooling services to customers and stakeholders in Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division located across the globe. The Division primarily provides products and solutions that go into Datacenter and related infrastructure that powers cloud computing, artificial intelligence, etc. The position will be part of this engineering team at Molex India Business Services.

What You Will Do

• Design and sustenance of Gauge and Fixtures for the quality team, to hold and measure our products on the assembly line.
• Design 3D models and assemblies ensuring accuracy, precision, and adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborate with Supervisor and team members to interpret technical specifications and voice of customers, and convert them into detailed designs, 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), and release packages, within Teamcenter and ECTR.
• Participate in design reviews in cross-functional meetings to gather feedback on technical insights and recommendations for design improvements.
• Conduct design feasibility studies, identifying potential issues or constraints and proposing solutions to optimize designs.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing and production teams to address design-related issues, resolve manufacturing discrepancies, and support the development of efficient manufacturing processes.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor/ NTTF/ GTTC/ in Mechanical Engineering.
• Up to 3 years in Fixture Design for precision components.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as molding, sheet metal tooling, fabrication of components and assembly processes
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (F BIW fixture background.
• Background of fixture design for precision parts and not BIW Fixture
• Working knowledge of material selection, product and component manufacturing process
• Proficient in using solid modeling software to generate 3D models & 2D drafting

What Will Put You Ahead

• Exposure to Sheetmetal design, Machine design and hands on manufacturing experience.
• Proficient in using DFM and DFA concepts in your designs.
• Good knowledge of conventional and advanced Machining, Assembly line process and Prototype techniques like 3D printing.
• Good knowledge and understanding of electromechanical products, components and assemblies
• Knowledge or Hands on experience in domains like Press tool and Die Design
