Job summary

HSBC India seeks an experienced professional to own and strengthen the Global Treasury Stress Testing 1 Line of Defense controls framework. You will set governance, lead issue management, and enhance controls processes and tooling (Helios/Appian) for audit/regulator readiness.

You will coordinate with Stress Testing, Finance Controls, and Internal Audit; drive evidence packs, control testing, and continuous improvement across regions while coaching colleagues to uplift controls ownership.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in financial services with risk & control assessments and governance.
• 5+ years in risk & controls, issue/action management and governance.
• Strong ability to produce clear MI for senior leadership and communicate effectively.
• Confident influencing senior stakeholders and driving decisions with judgement.
• Experience with Risk & Controls tools and using AI tools, PowerPoint and MS Office.

Purpose of the role:

Own and strengthen the Global Treasury Stress Testing 1 Line of Defense controls framework by setting consistent governance, assurance and evidence standards across regions; drive disciplined issue/event management through to sustainable “Path to Green” closure; lead Non-Financial Risk Management meetings and climate risk controls uplift; and maintain/enhance controls processes and tooling (including Helios/Appian) to improve MI, data quality and operational efficiency while remaining audit/regulator ready.

In this role, you will:

• Set and maintain the global controls operating model, minimum control requirements, and evidence expectations, aligned to Treasury/Finance controls frameworks and policy obligations.
• Establish BAU governance rhythm (forums, packs, minutes, actions, escalations) and produce controls MI (KRIs/KPIs, themes, risks, ageing, Path to Green) with senior-ready narrative.
• Own end-to-end issue and event management in Helios: identification, RCA, action planning, tracking, challenge/escalation, and evidence ~~~~ closure.
• Plan and execute controls assurance/testing (control testing and thematic reviews) to confirm design and operating effectiveness; remediate gaps and embed lessons learned into standards/procedures.
• Coordinate audit/regulatory engagement readiness: always-on evidence packs, walkthrough readiness, and consistent remediation responses with traceable evidence.
• Own and optimise controls workflows and tooling (Helios/Appian), manage demand intake/prioritisation, and partner with Tech/Data to automate MI/evidence collation and reduce cycle time.
• Lead delivery of Non-Financial Risk Management and climate-related controls requirements: gap assessment, implementation, embedding into BAU, and transparent progress tracking across regions.
• Partner with Stress Testing teams, Finance Controls, 2 Line of Defense Risk and Internal Audit; coach colleagues to uplift controls ownership, documentation quality and controls mindset.

To be successful you will:

• Bring 7–10+ years in financial services, including 5+ years in Risk & Control assessments, issue/action management and governance (Finance/Governance Reporting & Analytics preferred).
• Demonstrate strong project management and execution discipline—able to re-plan, manage dependencies, and deliver high-quality outputs under tight regulatory/Internal Audit timelines.
• Produce clear, actionable MI for senior leadership and communicate complex information effectively in written and graphical formats.
• Be confident influencing senior stakeholders and driving decisions; show resilient, results-driven judgement and a continuous-improvement mindset.
• Have experience with leading Risk & Controls tools and be confident using AI tools, PowerPoint and MS Office; comfortable driving process governance, re-engineering and safe automation.
• Lead and collaborate: Demonstrate thought leadership, foster a forward-thinking culture, and drive open knowledge sharing to deliver shared goals efficiently.
