Job summary

Pfizer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to lead reliability and maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment and facilities in a GMP environment.

You will drive preventive/predictive maintenance, participate in RCFA/CAPA, and support qualification and lifecycle activities, ensuring cGMP compliance and high asset uptime. Strong collaboration with production, QA/QC, and external vendors is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and GMP exposure.
  • 6–8 years in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience in RCA, FMEA, preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Basic automation/process controls knowledge (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and reliability engineering for manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure uptime.
  • Lead RCFA investigations and CAPA implementations for equipment deviations.
  • Develop maintenance strategies (PM/PdM) and reliability programs.
  • Contribute to TPM initiatives and improve OEE and asset utilization.
  • Support equipment installation, modification, and project execution with tech specs.
  • Assist lifecycle management including IQ/OQ/PQ commissioning and decommissioning.
  • Ensure adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and quality standards; maintain docs.

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee maintenance and reliability engineering for manufacturing equipment and facility systems including building infrastructure.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities to ensure high equipment uptime and operational continuity
  • Lead and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), investigations, and CAPA implementation for equipment-related deviations
  • Develop and manage maintenance strategies (PM/PdM optimization) and equipment reliability programs
  • Contribute to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives and drive improvements in OEE and asset utilization
  • Provide engineering support for equipment installation, modification, and project execution, including preparation of technical specifications and scope of work
  • Support equipment lifecycle management, including commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and decommissioning activities
  • Ensure adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and quality standards, including PM and documentation compliance
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, risk assessments (FMEA/QRA), and maintenance records
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Production, QA, QC, and external vendors for timely execution of engineering activities
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance through proactive safety assessments and adherence to EHS standards
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Hands‑on experience in maintenance of manufacturing equipment such as: Tablet compression machines, Granulation systems, Packaging equipment
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory expectations
  • Experience in: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Preventive and predictive maintenance Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Basic knowledge of automation systems / process controls (preferred)
  • Good communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate across functions
Nice to Have (Preferred Skills)
  • Experience in TPM / Reliability Engineering Programs
  • Exposure to equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD / P&ID interpretation
  • Experience in fire & life safety systems / EHS compliance
  • Exposure to energy optimization and cost improvement initiatives
