Assistant Manager – Human Resources

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Manager – Human Resources to partner with business leaders and drive comprehensive HR operations. This high-impact role encompasses the full spectrum of HR functions including (but not limited to) recruitment & talent acquisition, payroll & statutory compliance, employee lifecycle, performance & talent development, employee engagement, policy governance, workplace culture building, rewards & recognition, and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly payroll processing, variable pay, incentives, deductions, reimbursements, F&F settlements, and ensure accurate & timely salary disbursements
  • Ensure complete statutory & legal compliance (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, Bonus, Gratuity, Minimum Wages, Labour Laws, Shops & Establishments Act) including timely filings, reconciliations, and audit readiness
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle - onboarding, probation reviews, transfers, promotions, exits, exit interviews, and seamless transitions
  • Build & strengthen organizational culture & internal branding through employee engagement initiatives, townhalls, team-building events, value reinforcement programs, and diversity & inclusion efforts
  • Design & implement training & development programs - identify skill gaps, coordinate workshops, e-learning, leadership development, and track training effectiveness
  • Design and execute rewards & recognition programs - spot awards, long-service recognition, performance-based incentives, peer-to-peer appreciation, and celebrations to boost motivation & retention
  • Handle employee grievances, conduct inquiries, maintain positive employee relations, and promote a healthy & inclusive work environment
  • Monitor manpower utilization, headcount planning, attrition analysis, productivity MIS, and workforce optimization
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes - talent sourcing, job postings, resume screening, interviews, salary negotiations, offer management, and quality hiring to meet business needs
  • Drive performance management processes - goal setting, mid-year reviews, annual appraisals, 360° feedback, PIPs, and performance-linked rewards
  • Maintain accurate HRIS/employee database, attendance, leave, and generate insightful HR reports & dashboards for leadership
  • Formulate, update, and implement HR policies & procedures in line with changing laws, business needs, and best practices; ensure effective communication and adherence across the organization
  • Collaborate with finance, department heads, external consultants, and statutory authorities for seamless HR operations
  • Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and HR best practices to enhance efficiency & employee experience
Requirements
  • MBA/PGDM in HR / Personnel Management or equivalent (preferred)
  • 6–10 years of strong end-to-end HR generalist experience, with proven hands-on expertise in recruitment, payroll, compliance, and employee lifecycle in mid-to-large organizations
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws, statutory compliances, and experience handling audits/inspections
  • Demonstrated success in full-cycle recruitment, training coordination, performance management systems, and rewards programs
  • Experience in building workplace culture, engagement initiatives, and policy development
  • Proficiency in HRMS/payroll software (GreytHR, Keka, RazorpayX, SAP SuccessFactors, etc.) and advanced MS Excel
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • High integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
