Flight Centre Travel Group's India arm is seeking a Chartered Accountant to lead ETS accounting operations and consolidate costs across global units. You will own month-end close, lead accruals and prepayments, and drive automation to streamline processes.

Day in the life:

This role is responsible for the ETS financial accounting as well as consolidation of all ETS business unit costs globally. This role is responsible for the end-to-end month-end book closure process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The incumbent will manage accruals and prepayments, cost allocations, variance analysis, and provide ongoing audit support, working closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional finance teams. We have already centralized ETS accounting into India and are now looking to centralize further areas of accounting into the India team, standardizing processes across business units and driving automation wherever possible. This role will play an active part in that journey — identifying manual, repetitive activities and helping build more efficient, scalable ways of working. You will be working closely with the ETS Finance Controller, ETS General Manager Financial and Management Accounting, ETS Commercial Leader and business partners, Regional Finance Teams, and ETS Product leaders.

You’ll be perfect for the role if you have:

• Manage ETS accounting operations.
• Own the month-end and year-end book closure process, ensuring journals are posted accurately and within deadline
• Prepare and post accrual and prepayment journals, ensuring correct period matching and GL coding
• Perform cost allocation across departments/business units/cost centers, ensuring allocation bases are correctly applied and documented
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and clear open/aging items
• Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast/prior period) and prepare clear, concise commentary explaining key drivers
• Prepare management reporting packs/MBR inputs with variance narratives for leadership review
• Support half-year and year-end statutory audit requirements — prepare schedules, respond to auditor queries, and ensure audit trail documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant accounting standards Prepare compliance requirements including Head Office Reporting Pack
• Support the centralization of additional accounting areas into the India team, including transitioning processes from other regions and standardizing them against a common approach
• Identify manual, time-consuming activities within the close cycle and support automation initiatives (e.g. using Excel-based tools, system workflows, or AI) to reduce effort and improve accuracy
• Liaise with business partners/other finance teams to resolve queries and ensure consistency of financial information
• Provide feedback to accountants in other countries to ensure consistency and reliability of consolidated financial information

Requirement

• Qualified Chartered Accountant
• Minimum 2 years' post qualification experience
• Experience working in a shared services / GBS / multi-entity environment is a plus
• Exposure to audit (statutory or internal) is an advantage

Business Skills:

• Strong communication skills are the most important requirement for this role — the majority of stakeholders are Australia-based
• High attention to detail
• High level of expertise in Microsoft Excel
• Strong financial control and technical accounting knowledge
• Able to identify areas for improvement in finance process flows with the goals of automation and centralization
