HSBC is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager Accounting Control to join the Intercompany/Intracompany Derivative Reconciliation Team in Bengaluru. The role focuses on delivering accurate reconciliations, resolving complex breaks, and strengthening reconciliation controls across intercompany portfolios.

You will own end-to-end reconciliations, perform problem solving, and collaborate with regional teams to ensure timely closure and robust controls. Shift work and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Accounting designation is preferred or 4+ years of total experience in accounting, banking or similar finance roles.
  • Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance Management, Commerce or related degree in Finance.
  • Experience in a global bank or similar scale operations.
  • Experience in complex reconciliations across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Experience with reconciliations of traded financial instruments and products such as FX, fixed income and equities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily business controls (Reconciliation and Manual Journals) for Global Markets, ensuring SLA-compliant delivery of Accounting Control - Operations processes.
  • Assist with production of reconciliations, investigation and root cause analysis of breaks; post accounting adjustments.
  • Produce accurate management information with in-country/near shore teams; respond to queries with active business engagement.
  • Support Assistant Vice President with day-to-day and periodic reporting; cover for team members; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform impact assessments of proposed changes on processes, data and systems; document and schedule project activities.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with in-country/near shore teams and IT; mentor junior team members; ensure reconciliations meet SLA.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in therole ofAssistant Manager Accounting Control.

Purpose of the role:

This role sits within the Intercompany/Intracompany Derivative Reconciliation Team and focuses on delivering accurate, timely reconciliations and effective issue resolution across intercompany/intracompany derivative portfolios. As an individual contributor, you’ll act as the SME for your assigned processes and portfolios, owning reconciliations end-to-end, applying structured problem-solving to resolve complex breaks, and partnering closely with stakeholders to drive timely closure and strengthen reconciliation controls.

In this role, you will:
  • To act as an individual contributor delivering daily business controls (Reconciliation and Manual Journals) pertaining to the Global Markets business. Ensure delivery service of Accounting Control - Operations processes as per the standards set out in agreed SLAs within the HSBC Global Resourcing operating framework.
  • Assist with production of reconciliations, investigation & root cause analysis of breaks including accounting adjustments to be posted to the books & records.
  • Produce accurate and timely management information in conjunction with the In-country/near shore teams ensuring the queries pertaining to deliverables are promptly responded with active business engagement.
  • Provide assistance to the Assistant Vice President in day-to-day and periodic reporting requirements and provide leave and off-days cover for other team members. Identify opportunities for improvements. Participate in strategic and tactical change projects undertaken in respective businesses.
  • Perform in-depth impact assessment of proposed changes on processes, data and systems and formally document. Plan and schedule project activities aligned with the project plan and ensure timely completion of milestones.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships withIn-country teams / Near-shore teams, IT teams. Collaborate within the team to and mentor new team members as requested by manager. Provide excellent stakeholder management by ensuring that reconciliations are being provided within the required SLA and break investigation and RCA’s are up to date.
  • Process specialist - to support and guide the team and act as a key referral point for escalation for junior team members. Develop realistic and achievable strategies and action plans to address performance gaps, training and staffing requirements.
  • Help your immediate manager in implementing and communicating the group targets. Set the right example to junior members of the team. Create an environment within the team which fosters free sharing of knowledge & ideas.
  • Prepare and Update Business Contingency Plan (BCP) for Operations Teams. Be aware of issues within teams. All issues / problems are fully analyzed and resolved or escalated in appropriate and timely manner.
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
To be successful you will:
  • Accounting designation is preferred or with 4+ years of total experience in accounting, banking or similar finance roles.
  • Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance Management, Commerce or related degree in Finance.
  • Relevant experience in a global bank or related operational experience in an organization of similar scale.
  • Experience in complex reconciliations across multiple systems and platforms would be preferred
  • Preferably experience will cover reconciliation of traded financial instruments and products such as foreign exchange, fixed income, and equities.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel and MS Access. Strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as the role requires regular interaction with regional teams within the HSBC Group
  • Readiness to work in shift hours in different time zones and travel as the business requires.
